Harry Whitewolf | 1745 comments There are a lot of vids on the net about NASA images that appear to be fakes.

This video showing a manipulated image of Jupiter, amongst others, seems to prove that NASA are indeed photoshopping images from space. So how can we trust that any images from space are true?

James Morcan | 11378 comments 100 year one way trip being covered up?
Mainstream media reports as follows:

Is NASA Covering Up the 100-Year Starship? http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2010/10/2...

Is NASA Covering Up the 100-Year Starship?

A NASA official may have made a 35-million-mile slip of the tongue.

The director of NASA's Ames Research Center in California casually let slip mention of the 100-Year Starship recently, a new program funded by the super-secret government agency, DARPA. In a talk at San Francisco's Long Conversation conference, Simon “Pete” Worden said DARPA has $1M to spend, plus another $100,000 from NASA itself, for the program, which will initially develop a new kind of propulsion engine that will take us to Mars or beyond.

There's only one problem: The astronauts won't come back.

The 100-year ship would leave Earth with the intention of colonizing a planet, but it would likely be a one-way trip because of the time it takes to travel 35 million miles. That’s a daunting prospect, partly because of the ethical dilemma, and partly because it may be the only recourse.

"What psychological challenges should we anticipate in those who volunteer in good faith and with great courage, yet find themselves confronting misgivings or loneliness or feelings of rage or beset with mental illness?" asked Dr. Keith Ablow, a psychiatrist and member of the Fox News Medical A-Team.

There's one other bizarre aspect to the plan: Humans would have to be “adapted” to the alien world, Worden said, instead of figuring out a way to make the planet more hospitable to them.

“The human space program is now really aimed at settling other worlds,” Worden said during his talk. “Twenty years ago you whispered that in dark bars and got fired.” (Worden actually was fired, he confessed during the talk, under the Bush administration.)

Since that revelation, hundreds of news reports about the program have theorized that the substantial budget indicates the Hundred Year Starship is a dramatic shift for the stalled space program, not just a research project; others suggest it is a serious attempt to find a way to Mars. And NASA? The space agency seems to be dodging all questions.

FoxNews.com first contacted NASA’s Ames Research Center last week and scheduled a call with Worden for Monday. The call was postponed to Wednesday. Late Wednesday the space agency postponed again, before finally canceling the interview, citing Worden’s busy schedule.

After a week and a half, DARPA issued a press release announcing the program -- but conveying no more information than in Worden's initial speech.

But what is the Hundred Year Starship? Some experts argue that any program that suggests putting humans into space for their entire life, or for multiple generations, is doomed from the start, since many people react negatively to the idea of leaving the planet and never returning. Others are more supportive, saying it is the only way to settle a space colony.

New exploration
Speculation about colonization takes many forms, and some of the freshest ideas sound a bit peculiar. Dirk Schulze-Makuch and Paul Davies, who wrote in the Journal of Cosmology recently, suggest sending four astronauts on a one-way mission who “establish their presence” and do not come back. The suggestion is to send supplies to them occasionally, but the risks are similar to what Columbus undertook to explore the new world. (That analogy is a bit suspect, however: Columbus was most famous for actually returning.)

Les Johnson, a well-respected science author, spoke to FoxNews.com and agreed with the plan: a one-way, hundred-year mission may be the only way to get to Mars or other planets.

The main issue has to do with a basic physics conundrum. In order to travel the great distance to Mars (about 35 million miles), a starship would need a tremendous amount of fuel. Yet fuel adds more weight -- in fact, every pound you add to a ship requires 4 pounds of fuel. The more fuel you add, the more you need simply to move the ship's bulk, making it impossible to go one-way to Mars, much less roundtrip.

Johnson said the only solution is a longer mission using some form of propulsion that has not even been invented yet, or is still untested. One is a massive solar sail, which captures energy from the sun. Another is a fusion reactor that generates power without any on-board fuel.

Dr. Chris DePree, who heads the Bradley Observatory, also helped fill in some gaps on a 100-year mission to another planet. “It seems like the only realistic way forward, if we really want to colonize the solar system, is to have one-way trips,” DePree told FoxNews.com. “It might be that technology improves, and the grandchildren of those first Martian colonists return to Earth.”

He also explained what “adapting humans” means: The suggestion sounds absurd, but science may actually have more luck developing new breathing apparatuses or using chemical injections to make humans able to live on a foreign world than developing technology for "terraforming" a planet.

As to the question of a one-way mission, DePree says the idea is not as hush-hush as you might expect. NASA doesn't intend for a suicide mission, he said, but rather is debating the idea that an astronaut may live out his or her natural life on another planet and never return to Earth. Johnson said there are astronauts who have already volunteered for one-way missions before, and it's not a ludicrous proposition.

Swirling controversy
Even with these explanations, there is still wild speculation about the program. Worden mentioned the idea of working with third-parties to help fund future missions. He said Larry Page, the Google founder, asked how much it would cost to fund the mission (the answer: about $10 billion). This begs the question: is NASA ready to leverage its work by enlisting private enterprises?

Some scientists have wondered how the 100-Year Starship would deal with the effects of long-term space travel. Johnson said that even after spending a few months in space, the wear and tear starts to show -- astronauts who have visited the Space Station often cannot walk for a few days. Johnson said muscle mass starts to decline and bone density decreases after prolonged periods in outer space.

Short of an official news release, one that spells out exactly how the starship program will proceed, many assume that the program is just in an early stage. Johnson said the funding level of just $1.1M sounds like it is simply for research.

Worden may have slipped by revealing the program, but -- as evidenced by NASA’s lack of cooperation -- it may be too early for any new revelations.

Hosted by George Knapp
Guest(s): Richard Dolan, John Hanson

First Half: Richard M. Dolan has been lecturing and writing about why he believes a secret program of space exploration is an absolute reality. He'll join George Knapp to discuss evidence for the existence of this program while separating out the fantasies associated with it, providing a current assessment of where that program is today, including its relationship to UFOs.

Second Half: Retired UK police officer John Hanson has spent over 20 years researching the UFO subject, and has released a series of books called "Haunted Skies." He'll discuss the cases he's investigated including material from the late Essex UFO researcher Ron West, which includes a wave of 'Triangular UFO' sightings.

Harry Whitewolf | 1745 comments I didn't know where to post this, but have you guys heard about the cigar shaped asteroid that's passing through our star system?

From the Daily Mail:

"(It is) up to one-quarter mile (400 meters) long and highly-elongated - perhaps 10 times as long as it is wide.
That aspect ratio is greater than that of any asteroid or comet observed in our solar system to date."

"Most comets follow ellipse-shaped orbits around the sun.
But this comet orbits at an angle, and does not appear to go round the sun.
Experts suggest this shows that it comes from interstellar space."

"No known asteroid or comet from our solar system varies so widely in brightness, with such a large ratio between length and width.
The most elongated objects we have seen to date are no more than three times longer than they are wide."

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetec...

Very bizarre! And although I can't see how it's related, I do find it interesting that many UFOs caught on camera are 'cigar-shaped'.

James Morcan | 11378 comments I wonder if this is related to what you posted above, Harry?

Mysterious 'booms' are being heard all over the world - and nobody knows what they are https://au.news.yahoo.com/qld/a/37979...

A series of mysterious booming sounds are being heard around the world, leaving experts stumped as to what’s causing them.

As many as 64 thumping noises have been heard everywhere from the Middle East to Cairns in Queensland, with the latest coming this week in the US state of Alabama.

"Loud boom heard: we do not see anything indicating large fire/smoke on radar or satellite; nothing on USGS indicating an earthquake,” the Birmingham National Weather Service tweeted following the noise.

Theories attempting to explain the startling sounds include sonic booms, military exercises, earthquakes and meteors – but there has been no confirmation as of yet.

On October 10, a similar sound left Cairns locals baffled.

A FA-18 Hornet plane was heard flying over Cairns the previous night, but that is not thought to be the cause.

Just two weeks later, another boom was heard over the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia at the same time a blue meteor passed across the sky.

“It just got bigger and bigger and it was just this big flash across the sky and there were sparks coming off it,” Port Lincoln local Lisa Watson told News Corp.

“I pulled up home and I heard two massive bangs, maybe a second apart, and then the sky lit up again… I just felt the whole earth shake twice.”

Over in Wales, there is again no explanation for a series of booms heard on May 11.

“It nearly gave me a heart attack it was that loud. At first I thought it was shotgun blast or a firework, but it was way too loud for that. It sounded more like a tank going off,” One Abergavenny resident told local media.

“My husband said it was probably mini meteors colliding with the earth, but have you ever heard such nonsense?”

NASA's meteor scientists are continuing their investigation in a bid to determine what has caused some of the noises.

I'm not sure how you mean that's related! But I had heard about people hearing those booms worldwide and it is very odd indeed.

A year or two ago, round where I live, there was a mysterious humming sound that could be heard for miles and was keeping people awake at night, and no one ever found out what it was.

James Morcan | 11378 comments British hacker Gary McKinnon, who broke extensively into NASA (and the Navy/Pentagon) computer systems over a period of years, is an interesting case. The U.S. tried for a decade to extradite him after he was finally caught by NASA and stated he would serve 60-80 years in an American jail...But in the end the British govt wisely blocked the U.S. extradition request/demand and Gary secured his freedom. Wisely as Gary's hacking was clearly not malicious or aggressive, but wanting to find out the truth about free energy tech, UFOs and antigravity devices ("ethical hacking", if you will).

Unfortunately when the UK crime division first arrested him they took his computer along with much of the NASA evidence he had secretly gathered. But he claims to have found extensive footage while hacking that revealed antigravity technologies in NASA space photos, and evidence for something called "material transfers" between classified spaceships, as well as evidence NASA regularly airbrushes out UFO crafts from the space photos they provide the world (they do this airbrushing in Building 8 of NASA's Johnson Space Center, he says).

Gary also found a file within his hacking of the U.S. Navy a list of 16 officers all termed "Non Terrestrial Officers" and that was on an excel file he managed to keep and has since released to journalists.

If interested, I recommend watching this 2015 interview with Gary McKinnon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ssfrm...

From Wikipedia:
"Gary McKinnon (born 10 February 1966) is a Scottish[1] systems administrator and hacker who was accused in 2002 of perpetrating the "biggest military computer hack of all time,"[2] although McKinnon himself states that he was merely looking for evidence of free energy suppression and a cover-up of UFO activity and other technologies potentially useful to the public. On 16 October 2012, after a series of legal proceedings in Britain, Home Secretary Theresa May withdrew her extradition order to the United States."

Ian Miller | 1422 comments Proxima Centauri is the nearest star - but a little over 4 light years away. It is part of a three star system (Alpha Centauri) and just happens to be a bit closer than the other two. Proxima is a red dwarf, and any planet in the so-called "habitable zone" would almost certainly be tidally locked (each part always with the star at the same angle), so whether that is really habitable from a heat point of view is debatable, and there would be a very low intensity of light able to power photosynthesis, but every now and again heavy bursts of radiation ad the star "burps".

There is no evidence for "antigravity" and because we know nothing screens it, it appears to be monopolar, and that means there won't be antigravity. Having said that, we don't know why gravity works, so people in the future may laugh at what we think we know now.

Ian Miller | 1422 comments In my opinion, alien life is most likely to be found on a rocky planet with an iron core (necessary for water and reduced nitrogen) around a G type or heavy K type star, and provided it is not too close to the star (like Venus) it is highly likely to have life. Of course life may be no more complex than single cell critters.

I am presenting the reasons for this at an international astrobiology conference in June, so if you bring this up in July, I shall let you know whether it got shot down or not.

Faith Jones (havingfaith) Back in June there was a huge boom over the Solent channel, off the coast of Southampton, England. I was on the shore at the time and first of all thought it was a factory explosion or similar disaster, otherwise bombs falling because after the original burst and pressure the sound rolled/echoed back, but then I assumed atmospheric reasons like thunder and lightning but the sky was clear. Then, when there wasn't any smoke, I kind of stopped worrying about where it came from. It rained about 40 minutes later, which could potentially indicate a storm front. There was no explanation and nothing about the event in the local paper but thousands of people must have heard it because the bang was so big.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology...

A mysterious Russian satellite displaying "very abnormal behaviour" has raised alarm in the US, according to a State Department official. "We don't know for certain what it is and there is no way to verify it," said assistant secretary Yleem Poblete at a conference in Switzerland on 14 August. She voiced fears that it was impossible to say if the object may be a weapon. Russia has dismissed the comments as "unfounded, slanderous accusations based on suspicious". The satellite in question was launched in October last year. "[The satellite's] behaviour on-orbit was inconsistent with anything seen before from on-orbit inspection or space situational awareness capabilities, including other Russian inspection satellite activities," Ms Poblete told the conference on disarmament in Switzerland.

Revelations of a Secret Astronaut: Officially, NASA history timelines state that Apollo 17 was the last astronaut launch with Commander Eugene Cernan, Command Module Pilot Ronald Evans and Lunar Module Pilot Harrison Schmitt. But according to extraordinary testimony from whistleblower Jon Harold Lavine, whom Linda Moulton Howe interviewed over three segments on Thursday night's show, he was a "secret Apollo astronaut" brought in as a last-minute replacement for one of the Apollo 17 crew. While on the December 1972 moon mission, Lavine says he photographed (with a Hasselblad high-resolution camera) a Grey non-human alien who was just a few feet away from him. The being telepathically conveyed to him that the astronauts should not return to the moon.

Secret Astronaut Update: On Thursday's show, investigative reporter Linda Moulton Howe discussed the startling loss of insect life in the Americas, along with updates on secret space programs, astronaut whistleblowers, and MK-ULTRA mind control efforts. She shared updates related to her report from last month on "secret astronaut" Jon Lavine. In her subsequent reality check efforts on many of Lavine's claims, she discovered a number of fabrications. But in the face of contradictory facts, Lavine continued to insist his secret astronaut story was real, she noted. It's possible, she concluded, that the CIA "memory wipes" he claimed to have undergone, may have altered his accuracy or implanted him with false memories. She spoke with John Greenewald, producer of The Black Vault, who detailed FOIA archives that describe how the CIA and MK-ULTRA had methods as far back as the 1950s to induce selective amnesia and insert false memories on personnel working on specific classified missions. James Morcan | 11378 comments The Controversy of the “Secret Space Program” https://mysteriousuniverse.org/2019/0...

Even a brief surf of the Net will show that there is a great deal of information on what has become known as the “Secret Space Program.” Much of it is made up garbage, created and promoted by nuts and charlatans. But, not all of it. Are powerful people controlling our access to what is known about outer space and the possibilities of alien life? A study of the available data strongly suggests the answer is a definitive “Yes!” Taking things even further, there are good, solid indications that some secret element of the government is clandestinely running a secret space program. When, on July 20, 1969, NASA astronaut Neil Armstrong took his first steps on the surface of the Moon, it began a new era in the United States’ space program. Further manned missions continued until 1972. Plans were formulated to establish a permanent, manned base on the surface of the Moon. Then, in 1973, NASA launched its first space station, Skylab. Eight years later, the Space Shuttle was unveiled. Today, however, things are very different. NASA no longer has a manned space program. The only way for U.S. astronauts to head into Earth orbit, and spend time at the International Space Station, is to hitch a ride with the Russians. What went wrong?

Some say that nothing went wrong. Rather, the theory is that although NASA’s manned space program is largely no more, there exists – maybe deep within the heart of the military – a secret group that is running a clandestine space program. We might even be talking about highly classified return missions to the Moon, and possibly even secret flights to Mars. Is a powerful group controlling what we know – or don’t know – about the secrets of outer space? Yes. UFO authority Richard Dolan says: “Over the years I have encountered no shortage of quiet, serious-minded people who tell me of their knowledge that there is such a covert program. Are there bases on the far side of the Moon? I do not know for sure, but I cannot rule it out.”

One person who is convinced that there is a secret space group is Gary McKinnon, a British man who had a ufological Sword of Damocles hanging over his head for the best part of a decade, after very unwisely deciding to hack the US Government for secrets of the UFO kind in 2001. According to McKinnon, while wholly illegally surfing around classified systems of both NASA and the U.S. military, he came across a list titled “Non-Terrestrial Officers.” McKinnon said of this discovery: “It doesn’t mean little green men. What I think it means is not Earth-based. I found a list of fleet-to-fleet transfers, and a list of ship names. I looked them up. They weren’t U.S. Navy ships. What I saw made me believe they have some kind of spaceship, off-planet.”
