To Read or Not to Read???

To start off, I haven't read any of the Twilight books, but when I was watching Twilight: Eclipse, I found Bree Tanner to be any interesting character. She doesn't have much screen time and not many lines during the duration of the movie. I thought it would be interesting to see her point of view from her transition from human to vampire. For someone who didn't read the other books, do you think it will be a good book to read?

I think this book can stand alone and it would be interesting even if you didn't read the Twilight series because it is from Bree's point of view. Bree doesn't know any differently. I think you would appreciate the book more if you did read the others first. I think it was written for the twilight fans because we didn't want the series to end. It was a way to hold on just a little bit longer.

Stenedra, The twilight saga is worth a read only because the books are better than the films.

Bree Tanner shows another prospective of the main characters in the saga. read eclipse then Bree Tanner.

I would definitely say read. It is a great book and I honestly wish she would have done more with the character. It will be a bit confusing if you have not, and do not plan on, reading the books first; but you have seen the movie so you will have the general plot line. I also suggest reading the rest of the books though. they are a lot better than the movies.

I don't really see the point in reading this one without reading the rest of the series. It's just sort of an extra little side story that's basically unnecessary to the actual story.

You get a little info about the Volturi and see what it's like for the more typical vampires in Meyer's world.
But it's not even a whole story by itself. Just sort of a flash of Bree's perspective in the few weeks after she's turned into a vampire until she's killed.

But if you feel drawn to it, read it. It's pretty short.

I enjoyed reading this but see no point in reading it if you haven't read, or intend to read the Twilight series.

I'm just thinking of the book when I read it back in November 2011...I personally didn't like it and LOVED Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse. Breaking Dawn wasn't as good (plus a really rude friend I don't talk with anymore spoiled the ending!!!) but Bree's novella, I don't think it lived up to my expectations at all. Give it a try? I found it to be one really, really, long short story. I felt as though there had to be breaks like chapters at the least.

I really enjoyed this book.
When it came out, I read Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, then The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, and then breaking dawn. (yes, I re-read the other books just to read this book)
It has been a while since I read it, so I am not sure if it is a good stand alone.I would suggest reading the Twilight saga as well though because they are pretty good :)

I would say that it's up to you. It would make a bit more sense if you had read the other books, but it gives you a different look at Meyer's vampire world, and you may find it entertaining. Counter to what Meyer claimed, it wasn't really necessary to read this book to understand the Eclipse movie.

However, the Bree story blows huge plot holes in the rest of Meyer's continuity. Timelines and body counts don't make sense. If you're interested, I reviewed Bree Tanner and say more about it.

I'm not going to tell people not to read it but it sucks!!!! It was a really bad book and i could not see the point of it.The reason it was so bad was you already knew the ending of the novel.Making it hard to read.

NEED ADVICE: I'm looking for a book to buy for my almost-19-yr-old granddaughter who loved the Twilight series. Too much to sort through all these books and maybe miss the best ideas. Anyone who has a suggestion for a well-written, interesting vampire book, please let me know. Thanks.

definitely to read.
it tells the story from the perspective of Bree herself.
there are moments of sadness and of love. Even though short it was very beautifully written. I honestly say I was sorry she had to die...

I did not care for this book. I think some characters just need to stay to the sidelines. I also felt it was boring.

I think you can read it even without having read the Twilight books. It's nice and not very long.

You NEED to read it. Bree has such an amazing story its so depressing everyone who just wached the movies could not see that. Personnaly if I had it my way there would be a book for each of the tortured girls pasts and futures.

I did read the entire Twilight series before reading this book and I enjoyed it very much. It was interesting to get a different perspective on events that I had just read about in the other book. I know I don't think twice about secondary characters once I've read a book. I thought this was a fresh look at character development.
