For me a perfect beach read is a cheap paperback that I don't mind if my kids ruin with sand and salt water. And it should be something easy to pick up again because interruptions will be plenty....
But that's just me!

I agree .... Sand, salt water and sunscreen proof, as I'd that will happen. I plan on passing it on to someone else on the beach before I leave! ;)

I think in general, along with the other things people have said, it is something easy to read! Not emotionally draining or intense, something you could read on vacation without upsetting you or putting you in a bad mood. Doesn't have to be humorous, but definitely no tear-jerkers!
