Beth | 5 comments Hi!

I am about to start a class at law school , the class involves how the media and society preserve lawyers.

I am looking for any recommendations (preferably fiction) which play up the lawyer stereotype.

Sorry for the spam! I hope this has complied with the group rules. If not , can someone help me post this under the appropriate heading.

Thanks
X

Hi Beth, I think John Grisham's novel The Associate stereotypically (but pretty accurately, nonetheless) described the professional life of a first-year associate in Manhattan.

Hope that helps.

Agree! John Grisham is the reason why I ended up in law school, lol
He is definitely one of the best authors out there!

David Freas (quillracer) | 168 comments Also check out John Martel. He's only written four books, but Billy Strobe is one of the best legal thrillers I've ever read.

Some other authors with lawyer series you might want to look at:
Alafair Burke's Samantha Kincaid
Marcia Clark's Rachel Knight
Michael Connelly's Mickey Haller
John Ellsworth's Thaddeus Murfee
Linda Fairstein's Alex Cooper
Paul Levine's Lassiter, and Solomon & Lord
Ed McBain's Matthew Hope
David Rosenfelt's Andy Carpenter
Lisa Sccottoline's Rosato & Associates and stand-alone books
Stuart Woods's Stone Barrington

To some extent all of them are 'over the top' in their actions but who wants to read about a lawyer writing a brief?
