This topic is open for discussion of Stiletto by Daniel O'Malley. Be prepared for SPOILERS.

In this spirited sequel, The Rook returns to clinch an alliance between deadly rivals and avert epic—and slimy—supernatural war.

When secret organizations are forced to merge after years of enmity and bloodshed, only one person has the fearsome powers—and the bureaucratic finesse—to get the job done. Facing her greatest challenge yet, Rook Myfanwy Thomas must broker a deal between two bitter adversaries:

The Checquy—the centuries-old covert British organization that protects society from supernatural
threats, and…
The Grafters—a centuries-old supernatural threat.

But as bizarre attacks sweep London, threatening to sabotage negotiations, old hatreds flare. Surrounded by spies, only the Rook and two women, who absolutely hate each other, can seek out the culprits before they trigger a devastating otherworldly war.

STILETTO is a novel of preternatural diplomacy, paranoia, and snide remarks.

Lisarenee | 2046 comments I finally started this one and was afraid we'd seen the last of Myfanwy. So far there has been no mention of her. I got to the stage of the creepy "Living" room. This author's sense of humor cracks me up. :)

Lisarenee | 2046 comments I don't recall it with the first book, but in this one, I'm reminded a bit of the Parasol Protectorate series by Gail Carriger.

Lisarenee | 2046 comments I read this one in a few days and just realized I didn't post my thoughts. I loved this one. It was so funny and seemed better organized than the first novel. I admit the beginning was hard to get into until Myfanwy became a part. I didn't remember a lot of the other characters. I probably should have reread the first book, but I hate doing that. It had an air similar to that of Doctor Who.
