Good job Jon. Nice speech. I hope they are loyal when the time is needed.

I love Dolorous Edd. I'm not even sure whether he's got a really black sense of humour, or he's just comically pessimistic, but I love him so much. Every time he talks I imagine "You're so dark" by the Arctic Monkeys playing in the background lol

And now I have to go back and read Theon/Reed's chapter... I was at school when I got to it and knew there would be tears, so I skipped it and went straight to Jon's chapter.

I like Dolorous Edd as well I think he is just outright funny and very pessimistic.

But man why does he have a woman's name?? Is it pronounced like the woman's name Dolores or am I just saying it wrong in my head!

Lol, that's not his name. His name is Eddison (Edd) Tollett. Dolorous means feeling or expressing great sorrow or distress. It most likely has the same roots as the name Dolores, which means sorrow. It comes from the latin word for pain (dolor), which has spread throughout all latin languages: il dolore in Italian, el dolor in Spanish, la douleur in French. A friend of mine wrote this poem called "A Letter to Dolores" and she told me what the name meant, so I assumed that's where Edd's nickname came from, but I always pronounced it like Dolores as well. Your comment made me look it up and it's supposed to be /dol-er-uh-s/.

I guess it is kind of easy to mistake the nickname for his name, it was translated in the Bulgarian version, though, so I kind of took it for granted and never really gave it much thought. I think it was explained the first time he showed up, though, somewhere in the beginning of the series. Or not. I don't really remember.

RJ - Slayer of Trolls (hawk5391yahoocom) So if I had to choose, I'd go onion every day. I'm not even sure I've ever had a turnip but they seem gross. Also, it appears the apples have seen better days...

I'm glad the Watch is getting some recruits. But I sure hope this doesn't cause a problem later down the line. Although I'm sure it will.
