If you didn't read Blood Work before reading this story, did you feel you were given enough background about Terry to appreciate his role here?

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments I think Blood Work gave us a good introduction to Terry and what makes him tick. We learned that when he gets a hold of a case, he doesn't give it up easily. I know Terry's heart transplant and its circumstances were mentioned in this book. If I hadn't read Blood Work before this one, I'd be going back to see what I missed.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments I also read Blood Work, and I would recommend it to everyone who enters Harry's world. This book doesn't repeat ad nauseam the way some authors write.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments I definitely think that reading Blood Work first made understanding Terry's character easier.

The same is true for reading the Harry Bosch series because there are references to many things that happened in Harry's life that made Terry suspect him because he didn't know all the details like the reader does (if they've read the books).

I'm very glad I read it first because I wouldn't have known how good of an investigator Terry once was because he didn't show up well here in that respect.

Agreed. Terry did not come across as a particularly savvy profiler or investigator here.

Jim O'Donnell | 48 comments I think it's important to have first read Blood Work to fully grasp Terry's character, his actions, and his motives in this book.
