Offtopic: I notice that there is not a lot of activity lately in general. Not that I am contributing. Maybe it's because of the summertime?

Maybe we could discuss the runnerup from last period's voting?

I think that would be best, sadly I won't be joining then because my policy is to not start a new series before it's finished, WOT and ASOIAF taught me that :)

I thought we were due a group read for September, since the last one was July?

Slightly off topic but.........The sequel to beyond redemption comes out in November so I'd be on board for that.

based on the rules for nomination, only first book in series and standalones can be nominated.

since it is already August 22nd - based on the rules, polls are made two weeks prior - I don't think we have enough time to nominate and poll to select a book before Sept. 1. Unless of course the selection process is made faster.

Silvana, we may be a bit late but lets get this going, shall we? If its ok for everyone we could do 1 week for nominations (22/08 to 29/08) and 1 week for the poll (29/08 to 05/09). Any thoughts?

I'll rename and relocate the thread and we can start nominating books for Sep./Oct. Group Read!

I was throwing it out there for future consideration not for this poll and the group read the first book so I figured that was OK.

No worries.

I'll nominate again the amazing flintlock/gunpowder fantasy Promise of Blood by Brian McClellan since I am rereading it this month. Awesome series, I bingeread the trilogy and novellas really fast since the action was great, lots of wars and duels and the magic system is amazing.

I'm reading Gardens of the Moon in October, so would definitely be keen if it gets picked in the poll.

Forget that. I second gardens of the moon so some people here will be introduced to a great serie! And i'm happy to follow the book discussion. I don't have time to read a third book in september anyway :)
