This is different from any books I've read but reminds me a little of that book we read about the Hawaiian tsunami (or was it a volcano?). LOL

This one sounds interesting. I like some post apocalyptic settings.

Volcano (view spoiler)[I wonder if things are this bad for Alex, nearly 1000 miles away from the eruption site, what the circumstances are where it happened. The descriptions of the ash and how hard it is to shovel and walk through sounds similar to what it's like when it snows the heavy, wet type of snow. (hide spoiler)]

Darla (view spoiler)[I like her so far. She's feisty and tough. She is rather blunt so far too. She seems pretty resourceful as well. (hide spoiler)]

Ash (view spoiler)[it's interesting to see how the different areas have been impacted, the farther away the lighter the ash. I think that we are going to see more aftershock type of things occurring too, possibly earthquakes, tornadoes, etc. (hide spoiler)]

Alex (view spoiler)[sorry that he feels guilty about Darlas mom, but it's not his fault. Target was crazy and he would have stumbled upon their home regardless and the outcome would have been the same. I hope that he finds his family safe, if he ever makes it there. (hide spoiler)]

Camp (view spoiler)[this camp seems unsafe, they are being forced to stay there against their will and there is not enough food, this can make for violent situations. I hope they can find a way out of there. It's sad that they killed Darlas rabbit too. (hide spoiler)]

Darla(view spoiler)[ wow, I was really worrying me for a while there, I'm glad she started talking again. I agree, it was awful what happened but so not his fault. He could have found them either way. At least Alex can fight.

I just don't understand(view spoiler)[ why they are picking up refugees and not giving them a choice. Why hold them? If they are making their way and don't want to be picked up, why not let them stay out in the world. I also don't understand why they can't travel to other states. this seems nonsensical. The government wouldn't want to hold people they can't work and/or feed, right? if they have somewhere to be, let them be (hide spoiler)]
