These are four of the cozy mysteries that I own and would enjoy reading.

Book 1:

Book 2:

Origami Day

An Origami Tiger
Chaos Never Dies Day

Ants have always been the embodiment of Chaos for me
International Observe the Moon Night

National Absurdity Day

Bea, you are indeed creative. Any one will work. Happy reading.

Jayme, mention both those things (dog, bookstore) when you post and you're all set!

Cute, June! The first one made my coworkers wonder why I was laughing. Use any of your imaginatively creative choices.

Book 1:

Book 2:

Sad news, Christine. :( The covers are perfect for the holidays. However, both holidays occur in December, and we are limited to Fall holidays- September, October, November. Sorry!
If you word it right when you post you might swing Checkers Day for

Internet Day

Chic Spy Day

Good neighbor day

Skyscraper..."
Pia- All four meet the criteria. My book-cover-judging heart makes me suspect that the lady next door may not be a "good neighbor" --duh, duhn, duh-- but the cover will work. Have fun narrowing it to two.

Fandury-
Nice choices and nice explanations. I'm with ya' on the ants. Enjoy!

Ferris Wheel day -

Lover's Day -

Sorry, Lauren, the ideas are fine, however, Ferris Wheel Day is in February and Lover's Day is in April, and we are limited to Fall holidays- September, October, November.
Just a suggestion, but have you considered Positive Thinking Day or Make Your Bed Day for

6 September is Read A Book day

19 September is Talk Like a Pirate Day

8 October is International Observe The Moon Day.

26 October is Howl At The Moon Day (and Night)

I realize they're virtual, but I really, really want to see your quilts! All of these are terrific interpretations. Enjoy them.

"
I really, really wish I actually had any talent with sewing to make them! :-)

Book 1: {11-23: Fibonacci Day}

~ My quilt would be filled with different versions of Sunflowers, each of which shows the Fibonacci Sequence in nature...beautifully in my opinion. The numbers of the Fibonacci Sequence would be embroidered around the border/binding(?).
Book 2: {11-6: Saxophone Day}

~My quilt would have a different patchwork saxophone in each square and the colors would tie them together. The borders would have musical notes appliquéd on them.

Sheila- I love EQ!! I have three different versions. I don't have time to quilt right now, and I'm so frustrated because my head is full of ideas---and this task is only going to make things worse as the idea list continues to grow.

Book 1: {11-23: Fibonacci Day}

Michelle- As a card-carrying-nerd I must express my awe and applause at the Fibonacci choice; and the saxophone cover actually looks like a quilt. Happy reading!

My idea for one of my quilts for this task was for Happy Hour Day to make a stack and whack out of fabric with different drink glasses or bottles on it but didn't think the mods would know what a stack and whack quilt is.

no offense meant Donna AND Sandy. Sheesh!

Wayne, Brainteaser- If the guy on the cover looks down at the ground upon which he is standing, what will he be observing?

Sheila- I love EQ!! I have three diffe..."
Well, Shelia, looks like you've created a huge thread nest---start searching for covers with bottles and glasses.

He would be looking at Anarras, which is a moon of the planet Urras, which is rising in the background, but he would probably think of Urras as being the moon."
Wayne- You have a winner here. All you need is an object from a book cover to use on your quilt. You have Anarras on the book cover, so you're golden.
When you post, explain that your quilt will have a moon named Anarrus and a planet named Urras rising behind it.
Now, you just need to find a 2nd fall holiday and a 2nd book cover.

Rats. Another one to add to my TBR list :-)

Thanks Jonquil. I skipped those lines in the instructions :0)
I'll be taking you up on your suggestions though!

Rats. Another one to add to my TBR list :-)"
Wayne's just helpful that way.

Wayne- looks like you've got both your books!!

I think it could work for:
It's my party day.
Just look at how's she's dressed (and it seems she's had one too many drinks)

I agree, Pia, but as a social worker I'm not allowed to judge even fictional people.

a) National cupcake day 17th October Cupcakes, Trinkets, and Other Deadly Magic

b) October 8th Astronommy day

b..."
Yes, Marie. Now I'm off to find a cupcake...

Buffalo and Bison are the same animal, yes?"
Close enough for me, Pat. Hope you enjoy it.

Maya- The cover shows an elevator button, and it's the image, not the title that matters. How about using Oct 21 Count Your Buttons Day and mention that your quilt will have up and down elevator buttons?

Oct 8 - Astronomy Day

My quilt would be shades of blue with white star blocks
Oct 22 - Caps Lock Day

My quilt would be purple and maroom with 5 center panels of Capital V's in the middle.
Oct 31 Magic Day

Quilt would have appliqued white rabbits.

The Vonnegut won't work because it is a stylized graphic more than an identifiable object.
Reading is my escape, but quilting is my solace. I've made enough quilts to change my bed linen’s theme each Saturday. I started with major holidays, other cultures, and fantasy realms. When I got bored, I expanded to quilts with (1) eyeballs that glow in the dark; (2) quotes “spelled out” in hieroglyphics; (3) fairy houses; (4) beach toys; (5) Doctor Who; (6) international dragons; and (7) hunting lodge decor.
This is a TWO book task.
Your Folk Art assignment is to design a quilt theme for two of the less-well-known quirky holidays that occur during the fall listed at Fun Holidays
Book 1: Select a September -November holiday from the Fun Holidays website’s list. Only holidays that appear on the Fun Holidays list from September 1-November 30 may be used.
Read a book that has a cover with any object or scenario that you think could be used to represent that quirky holiday’s celebration. Only cover images may be used, not the title graphic, author's name, series name or other design element (borders, award symbols, etc).
Required: State the holiday and its date. Include the cover when you post. Explain the relationship of the book-cover object(s) to your selected holiday’s theme as it will appear on your quilt.
Book 2: Repeat for a second (different) holiday from the Fun Holidays website's list.
Be creative; push the envelope; this is Folk Art. Have fun!!
