I started reading and oh my, I didn't exspect someone to die right away! I thought this would be a fun/quick paranormal romance with a lot of cliches to be honest.
I mean, in my opinion it's not that bad that Chloe died and I'm interested to see how Emma deals with her loss. The only issue that I have is that I liked Chloe right away, even more than Emma. I had hopes that Chloe would be a really cool, fancy ass character.
Besides that I like that the writing style is quite funny and light even though Emma and the reader as well have to deal with bad circumstances.

Somehow I associate Emma with Fly from Blue Water High (Do you know that series? I don't know if the series was popular in other countries as well), just that Emma is "whiter" in my mind. :)

Stine So far it's all right. The writing style is light and easy to read, however I find it weird that Emma's chapters are told from a first person point of view and Galen's from a third person.
I think that incident with the shark was too rushed and the insta-love is a bit annoying. But I like mermaids and I'm still excited to read this and see how it turns out.

When I first started reading, I associated Emma with Fly from Blue Water High too!! I'm not entirely sure why, but they just clicked together in my mind.

This book, in my opinion, is alright. It's definitely not the best book I've ever read. Almost straight away, a character that could have been a great part of the story was killed. It's interesting to see how Emma reacts to her death, sure, but I think Chloe could have been a valuable part of the story.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel this book is going to go, but if it continues on the path it's starting to set on, I don't think I'm going to enjoy it. I guess we'll find out.

I agree with both of you. The narrative is a little bit confusing and I don't like the insta-love either. Besides that Toraf is somehow a little weird in my opinion.

Toraf is one of the few things I actually like about this book, but I do agree, he is a little weird. I definitely prefer his weirdness to the insta-love though. (I prefer basically everything to the insta-love. and Emma)
