Maddy (maddypreads) | 2 comments I read this book a year or two ago, but can never remember the name or too many specific details about it!
Here is what I remember and hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about:

- The main character is a girl and she wanders (?) into a forest, meets a boy who's a fae or nymph or some sort. They go on some sort of adventure together.
- At one point she makes out with a mermaid type thing that almost kills her/sucks her soul out
- In the end, the boy has to sacrifice himself and ends up turning into a tree. BUT when the girl goes off to college, she sees him again.

Sorry that there aren't many specifics! I remember it being written very well and including a lot of prose type writing, or the main character really loved Shakespeare. I really hope someone knows what I'm talking about! Thank you!

A few guesses:
Thorn Jack: A Night and Nothing Novel by Katherine Harbour?
Hear Me by Viv Daniels?

Maddy, is this book for young adults/teens or older adults?

I added a spoiler alert to the topic header.

Krista | 148 comments Some of those elements sound kind of like the Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray, but your mention of college makes me think the books you're looking for are not historical?
