The writing itself is good. You can tell she has written before, as it seems she has her reader in mind, and has a casual flow to it. Felicia tells of her childhood just discovering the world wide web, her nerdy dragon games that turned into an award first kiss. She tells of her bizarre upbringing, starting college at 15 with a violin scholarship while her mom drive her to class. She goes into her start in the entertainment industry- moving to LA to become an actress, and discovering herself as a writer. Lots of good fodder for reading.
I think that anyone can enjoy this. I was a little worried going in because I don't know much about gaming, would definitely not consider myself as a gamer, and was absolutely nothing like her growing up. However, she translates the gaming knowledge effortlessly, without sounding overly geeky or condescending. She delved into her bouts of mental illness- really shows how difficult the entertainment industry can be.
There was just one part she completely lost me on. That was the section on "gamer gate"- I didn't really understand what this was, and had to google for meaning. Even after googling, I still don't feel like I truly 'get it'. The section on doxxing (online hackers revealing celebrity personal details). brought it back to life for me. And definitely showed the negative side to being a celebrity.
