Michael Shpizner (ibiwisi) | 1 comments Hi, Harlan Coben Group Folks. I'm not familiar with HC's work. What would you say is the best book to start with?

John Heise | 2 comments Sorry, but I just joined the group as I am new to Good Reads and I just saw your question. I would start with any Myron Bolitar book as those are his best, in my opinion. Coben was who got me started reading again as I loved Promise Me. It was my first book in years. When I attack an author’s books, however, I work chronologically as sometimes characters evolve. Good luck. He is my favorite.

Pozycjonowanie | 1 comments I think it's best to start with the Myron Boliter series and then move on to the Mickey Boliter series. And then read Safe and The Stranger, which have a series on Netflix.

Ben M. | 2 comments I heard about but never read, any of his books. I watched several of his book adaptions on Netflix and found them to be great tv; always intriguing, and always keep you guessing until the end. What else do you need from a mystery?

What I found curious is that all of the programs take place outside of the United States, even though he is from NJ. Any idea why that is? To be honest, before I researched him, I didn't know he was American.

As mentioned, I have never read any of his books and would be curious to get some suggestions as to which one(s) I would pick up?

Note: Since I saw both The Stranger and The Woods, please don't suggest either of those.

Thank you in advance.

John Heise | 2 comments Promise Me was his book that got me reading again some years ago and I have never stopped. Loved it! I also liked Caught, Deal Breaker, Fade Away, Stay Close and Tell No One. All of his books with Myron Bolitar are outstanding. I went back and started reading them in chronological order of release date, though that is not really required.

Byrnes Fritz (byrnesaf) | 1 comments I own every one of Coben's books and have read them all through Don't Let Go. I am saving his most recent 2 Win and The Boy From The Woods, because I read his books so quickly. The best book to start with in my opinion is Tell No One as it is a stand-alone and one of his best. If you prefer to start with the Myron Bolitar series, your best to read them in order, so start with Deal Breaker. But if you start there, realize he gets much better after that book, even though it is still very good. He wrote 2 books prior to that one (Miracle Cure and Play Dead). Do NOT read those first as they are by far his worst 2. He even tells you in an introduction to return Play Dead if it is his first book you purchased. You will only tolerate them if you are a true Coben fan by that point. Both of his first books are good, but far from great. If you start with Tell No One then you will want to read more of his books.
