The Watsons Go to Birmingham—1963
byChristopher Paul Curtis

read in April, 2014

this book is a fictional story basked off true events. This family called the weird watsons weren't your average family. they had 3 children and the oldest, Byron, was a juvenile. so his parents sent him to live with his grandma for the summer to whip him into shape. By the end of the summer when the Watsons went to go pick up bryon, they attended their grandmothers chuch. on that sunday, the church was bombed. 4 little girls lost their lives that day from a senseless act of violence. I really enjoyed this book, it was funny and sad. it kept you wanting to read more. and I strongly recommend it.

Jalen V. | 13 comments I read this book too! It's actually very inspiring and intersting. It also really teaches you to be thankful for what you have because somebody always has it worse than you do.
