Hey Jessica! I read Serafina and the Black Cloak by Robert Beatty. It was a great juvenile fiction read. The setting of the novel is the Biltmore Estate, and as a North Carolinian, I found this fascinating. This book is mysterious and fun with a fast plot, a great heroine, and a supernatural flair. Great choice for kids or adults who enjoy juvenile/YA literature.
I have wanted to read Cinder, and I am disappointed to hear it is predictable. I also want to read Wildflower. What about the writing style wasn't appealing to you?

I've really been wanting to read Serafina! I'm glad you liked it!
Cinder is still an enjoyable read even it was a little predicable, I'm excited to see where the series goes from here!
And good question about Wildflower. I'm not sure I can really put my finger on what wasn't appealing, the style just didn't click with me.

This month I read....
Wildflower by Drew Barrymore- Drew has always been one of my favorite actresses, so I was interested to dive into her memoir. I will say she had some great stories to share in the book, but I was not a big fan of the writing style.
Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee- I listened to the audiobook. I enjoyed this book at first and loved catching up with the characters from the classic novel. My favorite parts were definitely the flash backs to past, which felt a lot like the first novel. However I did not enjoy the last half of the book really at all.
Night by Elie Wiesel- This was my favorite book I was required to read in school and it held up. The story is a heartbreaking look at a terrible piece of history.
What is your favorite book you've ever been assigned to read for school?
Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella- I listened to the audiobook. I loved that this story showed a realistic view what dealing with anxiety can be like. I also loved that it that it brought in a lighthearted and humorous tone to the serious topics the book dealt with.
Cinder by Marissa Meyer- This was very fun to read retelling of Cinderella. The only thing that I can complain about is that I predicted a major plot twist that happens at the end of the book at about 40 pages into the book.
As always, Share what you've read this month down below. I love hearing about what other people are reading!
Happy Reading!
