The day my mother was killed, she told my father I wouldn’t speak again, and she told him if I died, he would die too. Then she predicted the king would trade his soul and lose his son to the sky.

My father has a claim to the throne, and he is waiting in the shadows for all of my mother’s words to come to pass. He wants desperately to be king, and I just want to be free.

But freedom will require escape, and I’m a prisoner of my mother’s curse and my father’s greed. I can’t speak or make a sound, and I can’t wield a sword or beguile a king. In a land purged of enchantment, love might be the only magic left, and who could ever love . . . a bird?

Perfect amount of fantasy for me Chapter 16(view spoiler)[He is the eagle, I was wondering about that, I love her powers, there's just something so cool about them, but I can understand why she does not want to be the sword (hide spoiler)]

I got so caught up in the story, the end(view spoiler)[ oh I just love the end of this her taking the word away, so he was free to change at will, and all the little secrets and how smart that little troll was (hide spoiler)]

Prologue
This is one of those rare instances when a book immediately pulls you in. In love with the prose.

Chapter 15
(view spoiler)[Yes! I knew Tiras was the eagle! This is a pretty cool development. Though I kinda wish he'd been a normal human because that way, I'd know that his leniency toward the gifted was only because he's a decent guy and not at all because he's also gifted. (hide spoiler)]

Prologue: (view spoiler)[OH SHIT! Things are so freaking intense. First I thought it was going to be her imagination and everything but hot damn I didn't not expect her dolls to come to life. I'm so pumped for this book! (hide spoiler)]
Chapter 10: (view spoiler)[This is getting so freaking interesting I think I'm in love with Lark's character and I'm really happy that she has someone on her side and that he can finally hear her words. I'm still waiting till she can talk though.. (hide spoiler)]
Chapter 20: (view spoiler)[I feel bad for her because she has to stand there and wait for him to show up. I probably would've sat down and started reading a damn book. Or just never go in there and wait to begin with. (hide spoiler)]
