A place to discuss other versions of the story. Spoilers are possible.

Katy (kathy_h) | 882 comments This is an interesting article. I had never put together Beauty and the Beast with Psyche and Cupid.

From Eros and Psyche to Beauty and the Beast

Mary Catelli | 1135 comments Well, they are related. It's more closely related to East of the Sun And West of the Moon, though.

Here's a whole bunch of variants:

After starting Till We Have Faces a few days ago, I have to agree with Mary that the Psyche and Cupid Myth definitely has more similarities to East of the Sun West of the Moon tales. In general I've noticed that Norse and Greek-Roman Mythology have more similarities than others, for example, Celtic.
I am no Mythology expert, but that's my impression. Has anyone else noticed that?

Going by the cover it looks more like a romance, however it's supposed to be a Cupid and Psyche retelling: Painted Blind by Michelle A. Hansen

Thanks Mary! The retellings are all of East of the Sun West of the Moon, which I know is very similar to Cupid and Psyche. The books on the link you posted look good and I'll definitely check them out, in fact I read
Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow and really enjoyed it.
At the moment I am looking for a modern retelling of a Greek/Roman myth written after 2000 for the Challenge.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I poked around a bit for you...

There's a 1997 version that I saw on a college class's syllabus that they discussed with Til We Have Faces.

The Princess and The God by Diane Orgel
(Actually, there were a ton of interesting looking links in that syllabus - so here: http://comminfo.rutgers.edu/~mjoseph/... )

And this romance oriented blog post had a bunch of books mentioned in the comments:

I realize you answered Jalilah, but I think that I will check out The Princess and the God for my challenge too.
