- Poisons one monster and causes -2 HP damage each turn. If facing multiple monsters, you may use multiple poison potions to poison each one.
- Monster's HP is lost no matter what attack a hero uses (sword, staff, or spells).
- Potion lasts only for the duration of the fight whether facing multiple or singular monsters for that fight.
posts 4369 & 4371 & 4384 & 4385 in Local Tavern

- Subtracts -1 from the Attack Power of Monsters. When facing multiple Monsters at once, it subtracts -1 from each one individually.
- Heals +1 at the end of a battle.

- When casting a spell for a round, bonus attacks from your puppy and horse still contribute to damage. Pet Plus Potion also still applies to both.
Ex. (base attack, combat2 puppy, & horse) Firebolt 10 Attack + 2 puppy + 1 horse = 13 Attack
Ex. (adding Pet Plus Potion to above) Firebolt 10 Attack + 4 puppy + 2 horse = 16 Attack
- Damage Potion will also work to increase spell attack power adding +3.
- The following potions do NOT work directly with spells: Enhanced Weapon, Weakening, and Growing Strength. These apply to weapons ONLY.
- HOWEVER, Growing Strength and the Baubles both continue to increase in every turn even if you are casting spells. While they don't apply during the turns while casting spells, they are increasing in the background until the turn when you use a weapon again.
Ex. (either growing strength potion or bauble applied)
Turn #1 - cast spell
Turn #2 - cast spell
Turn #3 - +3 Attack Power from the Growing Strength potion or bauble.
(Or from BOTH if you have the bauble AND use the potion, leading to +6 to your Attack Power on turn #3)

You cannot attack monster if your health is at 0. If you hit the exact 0 HP you can heal and do another attack.

when your hero has Rocky the Rock and a shield:
first round
AP= 10-2=8
second round
AP= 10+5-2= 13
third round
AP= 10+5+5-2=18
and so on
Q & A

- Miffy can only be used on Halloween monsters labeled as October 8th and later.
- Miffy gets XP as long as she's alive at the end of the battle.
- Whether you choose Miffy to attack or not in a particular round she still gets hit every other round. (The monster switches back and forth for who it hits.)
- You can have Miffy and a mercenary at the same time.
- Lady Ysmay heals both your hero and Miffy.
- Miffy takes her own potions (heal potions, damage, weapon enhance & growing strength potions).
- Defense potions can be used on Miffy but one shield potion wouldn't cover both of you.
- Things that affect the monster affect the monster (Shield & Rocky LVL 1 reduce its AP). So when Miffy fights the monster they'll still be reduced.
- example of battle:
1st round
Hero attacks monster
Miffy attacks monster
Monster attacks hero
2nd round
Hero attacks monster
Miffy attacks monster
Monster attacks Miffy
3rd round
Hero attacks monster
Miffy attacks monster
Monster attacks hero
Q&A, A, A
Q&A

You can't stack Minor Poison & Greater Poison Potions. The potion with higher damage wins.
A

Red gem can be used in combination with spells. It doubles spell's AP (without pets and potions).
Q&A

Both Magic Shard and Lenny the Magician add to the base value of the spell.
e.g. Zest spell in combination with the Magik shard used for a zombie attack:
AP = 2 modifier x (10 base value + 1 Magik shard) + pets + potions (damage or PPP) = 22 + pets + potions
Zest spell in combination with Lenny the Magician (+20% to spell's base value):
AP = 2 modifier x (10 base value + 2 Lenny) + pets + potions (damage or PPP) = 24 + pets + potions
Modifier: Only the base attack is modified (does not apply to pets' AP or potions).
A1 & A2

Q & A

When do Timed monsters appear?
• Monthly Timed Monsters: Appear on the first day of each month.
• Weekly Timed Monsters: Appear every Sunday.
• Bi-weekly Timed Monsters: Appear every other Sunday.
What is the difference between Common and Weekly Timed monsters? Both appear weekly.
• Common Monsters: Each has its own separate timer.
For example, if you defeat the Goblin on a Monday and the Brown Bat on a Tuesday, the Goblin will reappear the following Monday, and the Brown Bat the following Tuesday.
• Weekly Timed Monsters: Always appear on Sunday, and you have the entire week to defeat them.
It doesn’t matter if you attack them on Sunday or Friday—another Weekly Timed Monster of the same kind will appear the next Sunday.
Note: If you don’t defeat a Common or Timed Monster within the allotted time, they will leave your Kingdom when the new monster of the same kind appears. These monsters do not accumulate. Only one of each type can exist at a time (with the exception of monsters that can appear in pairs, like Splintercats).
When can I attack Uncommon and Rare Monsters? Do they disappear if I don't attack them?
Uncommon and Rare monsters stick around until they are killed by each person. For example, the Big Heart appeared on Valentine's day in 2015, it's roaming the realm ever since waiting for the adventurer to challenge it to battle.
What are hidden monsters and how can I find them?
Hidden monsters can be found after you’ve obtained a puppy (from The First Puppy of Novel Kingdom quest) and trained it in tracking (via Jill’s Dog Training).
• To attack monsters labeled as "Minor Hidden," you’ll need a puppy with the Beginner Tracking Certificate (e.g., Woolymarks).
• To attack monsters labeled as "Hidden", you’ll need a puppy with the Intermediate Tracking Certificate (e.g., Merely Kats).
What are summoned monsters?
In the description for a monster marked as summoned, there are some instructions of things to leave to entice the monster and the time it will take for it to arrive.
What are Event Monsters?
Event Monsters are unique creatures that appear exclusively during specific events or quests. While they don't fall under the usual Rare or Uncommon categories, they are noteworthy enough to be classified separately.
Examples include the Halloween Monsters (here), the Easter Omnibus Troll and Sir Peepocalypse from the Easter quests, and various monsters from the long-ago White Dragon event.
What are Halloween Monsters, and where can I find them?
Halloween Monsters are unique event monsters that appeared one year during Halloween. There is only one of each, and they’ve been lingering in the Kingdom ever since, waiting for brave adventurers to challenge them. You can locate them here.
Older version of the comment under spoilers: (view spoiler)

The big benefit to the healing potions is you can use them during battle. You can't use the read/rest approach during battles.
Since some of the dragons have a lot of attack it's unlikely that you'd be able to kill them without healing during it. Healing does not use a turn in battle so you still can strike back and heal before the dragon gets another turn.

"Find Item Potion can be used to find items that you receive in the game i.e. from monster drops or quests.
Its description is as below:
Find Items Potion - 6 Gold - Magically obtain half the items needed for a specific quest. (Note the use of this potion when turning in your quest. If an odd number of items is required, the potion rounds down the reward. Example: Requires 3 items, potion provides 1. Requires 4 items, potion provides 2.) Note that this is only valid for items you receive in the game i.e. from quests or monsters.
This ruling takes precedence over all previous 'find item' potion decisions."

Read books to spell out the word(s) using:
◈ the first letter in the book's title
◈ the first letter in the series
◈ the first letter in the author's first or last name
◈ the first letter of a character's first, last, or nick-name
As always, if the first letter of a title starts with an indefinite or definite article ('A', 'An', 'The', etc.), you may use the first letter of the second word in the title to spell out your chosen word.

What counts as fresh?
1. A book you read after the quest or event start date.
2. A book purchased from someone in the Open Market thread (even if they read it before the start date). The date of purchase becomes the new "read" date. (This should not be misused to bypass fresh book requirements by swapping older books with friendly adventurers to "create" fresh books.)
3. A book created by gluing two books together with book glue after the start date—but only for tasks requiring a specific page count (e.g., 500+ pages).
4. A book created by covering two books together with book cover after the start date—but only for tasks requiring a specific number in a series.
5. A book you read after the start date and later duplicated yourself. The "read" date remains the same.
What doesn’t count as fresh?
1. A book you read before the quest or event start date.
2. A book you read before the start date, even if you duplicated it yourself before or after the start date. The "read" date remains unchanged.
Important Note: Swapping older books via the Open Market to bypass fresh book requirements is not allowed! Please honor the spirit of this rule to keep the challenge fair and fun for everyone.

You can locate the start date in the Notice Board thread. Here's how: First, find the quest you're interested in. And then:
1. Look for the text mentioning the start date, usually in this format: "Quest(s) starting [Date]."
2. If no specific start date is mentioned, use the date the quest was posted on the Notice Board, which you can find in the upper-right corner of the post.

The Magic Pumpkin holds the magical power to duplicate any one consumable item every two weeks. This includes potions, nuts, cooking ingredients, spell ingredients, and drop items from Common and Timed Monsters (e.g., Goblin Bones or Kindlecorn Meat). However, it cannot duplicate one-of-a-kind quest items, items dropped by Uncommon or Rare Monsters, or cooked meals (e.g., Dropbear steaks) . To ensure successful duplication, you must hold onto the item being duplicated for the entire two-week period—failure to do so will disrupt the process.
You can get your own Magic Pumpkin by completing the Halloween Event.
List of items that can be duplicated by the Magic Pumpkin
◈ Potions unless their description states otherwise.
◈ Nuts and Lemons
◈ Cooking ingredients: Salt, Herbs, Fish
◈ Spell Ingredients: see here
◈ Items Dropped by Common Monsters: Goblin Bone, Rat Tail, Bat Wing
◈ Items Dropped by Timed Monsters: Drop Bear Meat, Merely Kat Pelt, Nook Squirrel Carcass, Kindlecorn Meat, Kindlecorn Pelt, Kelpie Skin, Tree Branch
If you think that some item is missing from this list, let me know in the Local Tavern Thread.

When applying all bonuses to detract from your foe’s attack power, their AP cannot drop below 1.
Example:
Leapy Frog (attack 3, health 10)
The hero has a basic shield (- 1 AP), Rocky LVL 2 (- 1 AP), a fence (- 1 AP)
Leapy Frog's AP: 3 -1 -1 -1= 0 ---> Leapy Frog's adjusted AP= 1

Which Crops Does Radagast Double?
Radagast’s bonus—“If you possess a garden, it will double the yield of your crops”—might seem ambiguous at first. It doesn’t specify that the crops must be harvested from the garden.
My interpretation is that owning a garden signals your commitment as a gardener, and Radagast rewards that dedication by doubling all crop yields, regardless of whether they grow in the garden or in a pot.
Radagast’s crop bonus includes:
• Carrots
• Peas
• Clumps of Dirt
• Roses
• Lemons
(other crops might be added later as the game develops new features)

Do the flowers on the cover need to be real or alive? What about jewelry shaped like flowers?
As long as the floral shapes are clear and recognizable (not just decorative frills), jewelry or other artistic representations of flowers do count toward this task. The key is that they must visually resemble flowers—no guesswork required.

You'll earn 1 Cauldron of Kindlecorn Soup by completing the Kindlecorn Soup for the Spiritually Knackered quest (Repeatable).
1 Cauldron of Kindlecorn Soup – Doubles your hired mercenary’s strength for 1 battle.
You can only cook 1 Kindlecorn Soup per calendar month. It will spoil 30 days after it’s cooked. The Soup cannot be duplicated by the Magical Pumpkin.
Kíli of the House of Durin

• Attacks every monster for 4 AP each round.
Lady Ysmay

Amile and Ester

Radagast, Wizard of the Wilds is a vegetarian—he doesn’t eat Kindlecorn Soup!

- Resurrects a defeated rare monster (including rare magical ones) as a ghostly version of its former self. Works only on monsters you originally defeated longer than a year ago. This ghost is far more dangerous than the original, with both its attack power and health doubled.
Upon defeating the ghost, you receive the same amount of XP and regular loot (such as potions, potion tokens, mercenary coupons, and gold) as you would for slaying the original creature. Any monster-specific items (such as gems, orbs, or body parts) will appear as the "shadow" of the original, and can be used only once before they dissipate permanently (e.g., the Shadow of the Orb of Fire grants +3 AP to your magic staff for a single battle).
Each rare monster can be reanimated only once, and the process does not work on Halloween Monsters, other Event Monsters, and zombies, as they’ve already been reanimated once before. The Rare and the Rare Magical Monsters eligible for reanimation will be revealed in waves (stay tuned for announcements in the Notice Board thread). You must defeat all the monsters in one wave before you can start reanimating those from the next. Detailed stats and rewards for each Ghost of [Monster] can be found in the Ye Olde FAQ thread.
Can be bought at Jack's Store after being unlocked through completing The Alchemy - Part II: quest. Price at Jack's: 50 gold. This highly specialized item cannot be duplicated by the Magical Pumpkin or exchanged for a Potion Token—Jack insists on cold, hard cash only.
Resurrected Rare Monsters - You can bring back a rare monster you defeated over a year ago by using a RE-ANIMATION POTION. However, the resurrected creature returns as a ghostly apparition—stronger and more resilient than before. Its attack power (AP) and health points (HP) are doubled compared to its original form. Zombies and Halloween Monsters (and other Event Monsters) cannot be reanimated.
Ressurected Rare Monsters - Wave 1
• The Ghost of the Great Red Dragon - A spectral, fire-wreathed beast with a single molten eye that gleams with the embers of its past fury. This ghostly apparition is steeped in magic, making it particularly resistant to magical attacks. Your magic staff and spells deal only half their usual damage, but your sword gains +2 AP against this beast. Other physical weapons function as normal.
30 Attack 100 Health - Reward: 30 Experience, The Shadow of the Orb of Fire (Grants +3 attack to a magic staff for a single battle. Disappears after first use.)
• The Ghost of the Great Green Dragon - This spectral beast prowls the catacombs beneath mountains of steel, its ethereal form almost impervious to the slash of a sword. However, magic can weaken its spectral armor. Your sword deals only half its usual damage, but your magic staff and spells gain +2 attack power against this foe.
36 Attack 80 Health - Reward: 30 Experience, The Shadow of the Orb of Earth (Grants + 3 attack to a sword for a single battle. Disappears after first use.)
• The Ghost of the Great Blue Dragon - This spectral ruler of the seas, lakes, streams, inlets, and fjords (plus any other body of water you can name) is a slippery foe. Both your weapons and all spells deal only half their usual damage against it. However, its watery essence reacts strangely to healing magic—each time you use a healing potion, the blue dragon loses 5 health points.
30 Attack 120 Health - Reward: 30 Experience, The Shadow of the Orb of Water (Restores +1 HP at the end of a single battle. Disappears after first use.)
• The Ghost of the Great Yellow Dragon - This spectral beast commands the skies—yes, like all flying dragons, but this one does it with extra flair. Your best advantage? Bat wings. By using 2 bat wings in a turn, you can take to the skies and fight the ghost on its own turf, increasing your attack power by 5.
30 Attack 160 Health - Reward: 30 Experience, Orb of Air (For a quest requiring 4 or more items, this reduces the required amount by 1. Only applies to Find Items Eligible quests. Disappears after first use.)
• The Ghost of the Great Novel Dragon - Once the undisputed king of all dragons, this legendary beast rages against the injustice of its own demise. Not even its fame in fairy tales across countless lands, worlds, and universes can soothe its wrath. To defeat this enraged spectral colossus, you must be the strongest of all heroes, across all realities.
50 Attack 300 Health - Reward: 50 Experience, The Shadow of the Title of Power (A completely useless but undeniably impressive spectral trophy—perfect for displaying next to your equally useless Title of Power.)
Ressurected Rare Monsters - Wave 2 - Coming soon
