Note 3: Forgive any inaccuracies, I after all am not français ;)

So in this group, I will be randomly also putting words in another language so you can get it drilled through your head. I will not say French. I will say français. To keep things easy, we will only learn 1-5 words per lesson. DO NOT MOVE ON UNTIL YOU HAVE MEMORIZED THESE WORDS BY HEART.

Hello-Bonjour.
How are you- Comment allez-vous. (Exceptions, will be discussed in lesson 2).

Your job is to comment below, introducing yourself with ONLY these French words- but you must use all of them.
Example: Bonjour. My name is ____. Comment allez-vous?

The catch: You must introduce yourself four times (repetion helps)
Once as yourself
Once as a book character
Once as a television character
Once as a friend (add to this one for laughs ;D)

Also, I just wanted to say that I didn't really know that people say "Comment allez-vu?" because I only heard people say, "Comment ça va?" It means 'How is it going?'

Comment allez-vous means "How are you" while Comment ça va means "How is it going?"

Rachel (APCB Reviews) (gr8rach) Just "ça va?" is what most people say, it's more informal and used much more often.

Natasha | 50 comments Yeah 'ça va ?' is definitely the most common in everyday conversation, to which you can answer 'oui, ça va' etc.

I'd say that 'ça va ?' or 'comment ça va ?' can also be translated as 'how are you?'

'Comment allez-vous ?' is either used in formal situations, or for addressing a group of people ('how are you all?) The informal singular variant of this expression is 'comment vas-tu ?'

In most French words you don't pronounce the last letter of a word with a few exceptions (I'll say if there is one)
If in doubt google translate is good for pronunciations but doesn't put words in correct order so watch out.
