Tiz. T. So, speculating about a book you haven't yet read is one of the best thing ever :D

Any prediction from the new book? I predict thusly, having read only the twitter page and the io9

1. The "little girl" Chade speaks of in the twitter page is Fitz&Molly.
2. She is a total Mary Sue
3. Molly shall die in childbirth

Any prediction from you? :D

Linda I haven't read the book, but I've been quite heavily spoiled for what makes the girl so unusual, and let's just say that being a bit MSish may come with the territory.
OTOH, "Mary Sue" as a term kind of lost its meaning; someone uses it for a character modeled on the author, someone for a character without flaws which good ol' humans should have, someone for a character which is highly important to the story, but they hate him/her and can't stand the plot revolves around him/her.

From the little I know neither the first or the second should apply... or at least not literally.

I personally think a Mary Sue is the epytome of perfection. She can't do wrong. If anybody hates her or disagree with her, they are big meanies ò.ò I mentioned Ayla because she is sort of the best definition of the archetype you can find in novels. I really think everybody should read those books just to understand what a Mary Sue is like. Ayla is set in pre-historical times. She is beautiful, strong, brave, has the obvious tragic past that had made her stronger, she is an amazing warrior and huntress with magical power given to her by the Godness. She invents addomestication of animals, the fireflints and discovers were babies come from. I am not joking. Of course she is also kind, caring, emphatetic and has a mate, Jondalar, who is of course the most handsome, strong, brave and sensitive man of the whole world (who is also a great lover, of course) and they love each other eternally, as was obvious :P
She does have some people who disagree with the incredible changes that this people arrived yesterday in their community wants to bring, but they are all evil big meanies who can't see the incredible light that is Ayla. One is jelous of her beauty (of course) and the other is a never-do-well alcoholic prehistoric man. Really it is highly amusing :P

Linda Oh well, yeah, that's what the word should be used for, but I'm wary of using it because it gets thrown around a lot, often not where it really fits. For exaple, I've seen someone once call Nettle MS because she was able to pull Inception without any special training in the Skill... which of course doesn't mean she's perfect in other areas, just very talented in this one.

I wonder about the girl a lot. With her in picture, one comment which the Fool made back in Royal Assassin makes more sense. I wonder if it is relevant or just a coincidence. I suppose I'll see.

Tiz. T. Nettle is absolutely not a MS. I agree the word is sometime misused, but still has a meaning since there are a lot of MS around, alas.

I am quite curious ò.ò Would you mind sending me what exactly the girl is? :D

Linda Oh come on! You didn't get the PM?

OK, I'll try once more. :-)

Tiz. T. Nope! This is very strange o.o

Linda Tried it again.

Let me know if you got it and what you think. ;-)

Jingizu LOL @ Tiz - a perfect explanation of a Mary Sue, and a perfect description of Ayla!

I just couldn't continue with Ayla's story after Plains of Passage, and that one was already bitch to finish! Just too much, just call her a goddess and get it over with. hehe
