NOTE(S):

PLEASE read the Vietnamese alphabet first. It has important facts over there!

*Also, although I am its native speaker, I have a few problems with this language, but I know a majority of it. Thank you ;P

Okay then! Let's start this off. Like always, before I get to the complicated parts, I'll start teaching a few simpler words. (Usually just greetings and stuff like that, capishe?)

Greetings

Chao ~ Hello/Hi! (This greeting is usually accompanied by a title; in Vietnamese cultures, when greeting yourself to someone else, we usually call the other person by the title 'sister' if they are a moderately young female, 'brother' if they are a moderately young male, 'miss' if they are a slightly older female or a female with authority over you like a teacher or a boss/overseer, 'Mr.' if they are slightly older.... you know what I mean, rigght....? Okay whatever, I sort of got off topic and I didn't mean to talk about this until lesson two, so sorry for the confusion XD I'll talk more on this later)
Chao ~ Goodbye/Bye
*Note: Yes, both 'chao' can be used for 'goodbye' and 'hello'. It's the formal word, anyway. (view spoiler)
Tên tôi là ~ My name is....
Tôi đang làm tốt ngày hôm nay (longer version) ~ I'm doing well today
Bạn khỏe không? ~ How are you?
Tiếng mẹ đẻ của tôi là ~ My native language is...

So... I'm kinda copying this from Layla, but, introduce yourself below like:

Chao! Tên tôi là Mai. Tiếng mẹ đẻ của tôi là Vietnamese. Tôi đang làm tốt ngày hôm nay; Bạn khỏe không?

;P

Sorry I don't have the symbols/accent marks

message 9: by Bloodyhell (new)

Bloodyhell It's okay...I usually don't use the marks when chatting with my parents. You are also supposed to call someone who is older than your parents "bac". Sometimes, you even have to call your younger cousins "anh/chi" if they are children of your parents' elder siblings. Ugh, so confusing!

Half the time I don't even address my relatives. And that results in my mom scolding me when they are out of earshot -.-
