Jon (jonmoss) Our Prince of Nothing series group read will finish in July. So, we'll need a new series to start reading August 1st. The Dark Tower series ends in November, but we'll probably take December off (so everyone can enjoy the holidays with friends and family).

Nominations are open for the series to follow Prince of Nothing and will remain open until the first week of June 2014.

Nominations must be for a finished or soon to be finished series that has not been previously read. All nominations must be seconded. The books must be available in different formats.

Each member is allowed one nomination and one second...so no lists of nominations!

Happy Nominating!

Nominated/Seconded:

Long Prince Quartet by Abraham
Black Magician Trilogy by Canavan
Magister trilogy by Friedman
Darwath series by Hambly
Fionavar Tapestry by Kay
Deverry series by Kerr
Saga of Recluce by Modesitt
Engineer trilogy by Parker

Nominated (but not yet seconded):

Grisha series by Bardugo
Circle Books by Dekker
Dark Series by Feehan
Prospero's Daughter trilogy by Lamplighter
His Dark Materials by Pullman
Acts of Caine series by Stover

The Darwath Series: The Time of the Dark, The Walls of Air, and The Armies of Daylight
Just reminded of this recently, so would like to nominate it. Evidently, Barbara Hambly has also written two other books for this series, which I have never read. Whether to include these, I'm sure will be up to mods.
:)

Here's a better link to all five.

Is this series complete?

Looks like 4 and 5 are yet to be published. But I've read the first one and it was good (not great). The second one is on my TBR.

Great, thank you very much!

I nominate The Grisha Series by Leigh Bardugo.

The first two books in the series have been out for some time and the third is due out June 17th.

A few wonderful folk-tales set in the same world as the novels are available for free on Tor.com. They contain no spoilers and give a nice feel for the novels' unique Russian-esque fantasy setting.

message 13: by Hélène (new)

Hélène (hlneb) I'll second the Long Price Quartet by Abraham.

Yes, please visit our group Bookshelf (see link above).

message 15: by Marco (new)

Marco His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman. I didn't find it in our library and I think that this series is underrated. Give it some thought!

message 16: by Jon (new)

Jon (jonmoss) See top post for current list of nominations.

message 17: by Jon (last edited May 20, 2014 01:41PM) (new)

Jon (jonmoss) Since this week marks the release of yet another book in the Saga of Recluce (written by L.E. Modesitt Jr. - Cyador's Heirs), I would like to nominate that series. I've read them all and will be reading this recent release very soon.

While not technically a 'complete' series, any or all of these books can be read as standalones. A handful do span a common arc, but most are individual.

https://www.goodreads.com/series/4182...

L.E. Modesitt, Jr.'s bestselling fantasy novels set in the magical world of Recluce are among the most popular in contemporary fantasy. Each novel tells an independent story that nevertheless reverberates though all the other Recluce novels to deepen and enrich the reading experience. As Publishers Weekly says, "Modesitt creates a complex world based on a plausible system of magic and peopled with engaging and realistic characters." Rich in detail, the Recluce books are a feast of wondrous marvels.
