Rachel (APCB Reviews) (gr8rach) Lesson 1: Say Hello!

Vocabulary
你 - nǐ (you)
我 - wǒ (I)
很 - hěn (very)
好 - hǎo (good)
你好 - nǐ hǎo (hello) Click on --> (view spoiler)
您好 - nín hǎo (hello, more polite, say to elders and adults)
你好吗 - nǐ hǎo ma (how are you?)
我很好 - wǒ hěn hǎo (I'm good) click on --> (view spoiler)
你呢 - nǐ ne (and you?)
谢谢 - xiè xie (thank you)
再见 - zài jiàn (goodbye, see you again) (zài means again, jiàn means see)

Hear it pronounced here: http://www.standardmandarin.com/chine...

**sometimes characters when separate mean different things but when they are used together as a word or phrase they mean something else. Ex. 你 - nǐ (you) & 好 - hǎo (good). When put together 你好 doesn't mean "you good" it means "hello."

Conversation:
P1: 你好! (nǐ hǎo)
P2: 你好 (nǐ hǎo)
P1: 你好吗? (nǐ hǎo ma)
P2: 我很好,谢谢! 你呢? (wǒ hěn hǎo, xiè xie. nǐ ne?)
P1: 我很好. (wǒ hěn hǎo)
P2: 再见! (zài jiàn)
P1: 再见! (zài jiàn)

Want to try without the pinyin?

Conversation:
P1: 你好!
P2: 你好
P1: 你好吗?
P2: 我很好,谢谢! 你呢?
P1: 我很好.
P2: 再见!
P1: 再见!

Any questions?

Iria L. (riami) | 28 comments 您好 - nín hǎo (hello, more polite, say to elders and adults)

It's actually níng hǎo.

Níng is like vous in french.
