As they passed the remaining strips of suburbs, the boy's heart clenched. What if he never saw his family again? What if he never got to skip school and hang out with his friends? What if he never got to trip his brothers down the stairs? Maybe running away wasn't such a good idea... suddenly, and acrid, bitter scent filled the train.

He ran.
As a grandchild of the wind, and the son of Hermes, running was all he really could do. Ripping open the door to the next train cart, his stomach lurched as the wind hit his face and the ground rushed beneath him. Without hesitation, he jumped to the other train cart.

The monster howled and covered it's ears . It ran after Bax, than slammed his fists into the roof of the train. The creature was injured but it continued running.

A blaring beeping noise filled the train.

ran away from the noise. The monster moved away from the train and ran across the road and into a nearby forest and disappeared out of sight. Police cars surrounded the train and they went inside to gather the injured.

Maybe that's why his moma was scared to let him go to camp. Tears began to well in his eyes.
What now? He wasn't any good on his own. He didn't know the first thing about being a demigod. He thought it would've involved more candy...not death.

"That should get their attention." He said to himself, putting the flair gun back in his backpack. He was just turning around to the door when he saw the girl. "Oh. Hi! Are you ok? What's wrong? Why are you crying? Your eyes are a crazy color! Are they contacts? Speaking of contacts, I have an emergency phone if you need to call someone." To prove it, he pulled out a flip phone.

"Hey wait why do you ask?" He said quickly.

Suddenly, his brother Umber came to Bax's mind. He wondered if he had seen anything like this. If he did, Umber never showed it. He was strong. Bax wasn't. There was always someone to help him. To hold his hand.
Bax looked up at April with a trembling lip and held out his hand.

April felt bad for him and gently took his hand. She rubbed his palm and spoke in a soft voice. "It's not your fault." she looked at Bax knowing he still wouldn't believe her. But she tried her best.
"Com on." April demanded. "Let's go to camp."

"Mmkay." Bax said, liking the human contact. He stood up and stared at that ground. "Which way?"

April signed. "Just follow me. We can see the camp ,but mortals can't ,unless they can see through the mist." April turned around and started walking.

"Where are you from? Are you from California? Have you ever been to Venice Beach? Or have you gone whale watching? I did that on a field trip. It suckeeeeeddd we saw no whales except a stupid fin a jillion miles away. And the teacher got seasick and puked on my friends shoes. And and and I when I went to the bathroom it found some bread in the toilet so I had to hold in my pee for the entire trip which was 2 hours-" He bumped into a tree. "Oopsies!"

That they were all born on Mount Olympus, for whatever reason. Either that or, somewhere in Nevada. "I think somewhere in Nevada. What about you?"
