This is going to be different from the initial idea given in the poll, but for those who never bothered to check that out - never mind.
This challenge is an original idea. Any correspondence of this with challenges of other groups in purely coincidental. If so, it you be appreciated if you let me know.
Doesn't it cost a lot to go travelling around the world? If you take in account the cost of shopping you do before the trip, I bet you could build a small library with that money. Here we present you with a cheaper (for some, free) way to travel around the world with a completely different experience.
This is going to be a team challenge. Each team will consist of 5-6 members with one Captain and if required, a Vice-Captain.
Each team will be assigned a destination to 'fly' to. To reach the destination, your team will have to read any four of the six books assigned to that destination. From here, you will be given your next destination. At certain destinations termed as 'rest stops' in this challenge, you will be allowed to move to another destination without reading the books. Instead, you will be asked to do something else. It will, of course, be optional. If your team would like to continue by reading, you can do that, too.
Aside from the main challenge, there are also mini challenges for you to complete.
What is the use of going all around the world without a camera? Here is a mini-challenge you can play if you want. This is where you exhibit your photo album.
Snap your photos
For this challenge, only book covers will be counted. You will be required to read books with tourist spots of the destination on the cover page.
Note: Books read in the main challenge can be used for this.
Talk to Natives
Here is another optional mini-challenge. This is the Talk to natives challenge. Here, you are required to read books either written in the language of the place you are in, or read a book written by an author from the place. You can also read books which have been translated into other languages (So go ahead and read Harry Potter in French)
Souvenirs!
Presenting to you another optional mini-challenge. To remind yourself of the places you visit, you need to get souvenirs. In each place, you get to buy certain souvenirs (assigned). You may get these souvenirs by looking for them in certain threads in this group. You will be given clues where they are, and once you solve it, you will need to send the link to the comment to me.
Now, the decision is up to you. You may join or not. To sign up, please post below, include your preferred genres, and whether you'd like a 'talkative thread' or not. Also include whether you want to be a captain or not.
If not enough members participate, this will be discontinued.
