What book are you reading right now? Feel free to update and share the books often! It's a great way to suggest new books and start new discussions! :D

Rachel Currently, I am reading two books and listening to one audio book.

Reading: One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez The Giver (The Giver #1) by Lois Lowry

Audio: Here's the Story Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice by Maureen McCormick

I just finished re-reading The Giver least week(as well as the rest of the series). Makes me even more angry at the movie preview, and the fact they are totally destroying it!!!

message 5: by Rachel (new)

Rachel I've never read the book, and I haven't seen the trailer yet. I have heard that many people are disappointed. I did see a still of the movie, and was not happy Taylor Swift was cast in the movie. I mean did they not see her acting ability in Valentine's Day?!?

When you are gone reading it take a look at the trailer and let me know what you think. The trailer is posted in the video section of the group home page! :)

Sam | 606 comments Currently reading The Hunt by Andrew Fukuda and really enjoying it. It's a trilogy and I did wait for the last book to be delivered before starting to read :D glad I did because I know I wouldn't want to wait now haha

The first sentence on the back grabbed me and the first page had me hooked! I mean you don't find out the main characters name till half way into the book but that didn't annoy me at all, which is saying a lot for me. I think it is well written and can't wait to see where it goes from here.

Sounds really good! I for sure want to look into that one!! :D

Cate (The Professional Fangirl) (chaostheory08) | 458 comments I started Dragonfly in Amber (Outlander, #2) by Diana Gabaldon on my flight to Korea but I've yet to make a dent. I can't read while on vacation even when I fully intend to. I recently finished The Fault in Our Stars by John Green ... unimpressed but it was a short read.

I'm thinking of taking a break from Dragonfly and moving on to Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan .

Oh, the first on was the best in the series, in my opinion :)"

That worries me then since I did not LOVE it.....well, I guess I will find out soon enough......

I have only read the first one in the series, are the rest worth reading? I have not met many people who have read them all.....

Dana Burkey (danaburkey) | 1690 comments Mod
I am almost done with the second and I for sure don't love it, but am still going.... I want to see the series through, but I just don't like Cassia much... I feel like her character is rather annoying, and I like Xander WAY better than Ky!

message 14: by Rachel (new)

Rachel I am a planner, and I saw that The Maze Runner (Maze Runner, #1) by James Dashner looked like it was going to be the second June BOM pick. So, I put my name on hold at the library for the treebook and the ebook...well ebook came in this week, so now I am getting a head start on it. Oh well!

Too many book clubs, and so many books to read in one month. Guess depending on when I can read the entire book, I may be one of those late arrivals in the discussion boards depending on the library, reading schedule, or maybe I'll be an early arrival. (disclaimer: I was at a baseball game yesterday, and got a bad sunburn, so if I am rambling that could be why.)

That worries me then since I did ..."

I finished the second book last night and still do not really love where the series is going, or Ky for that matter...but I am going to go ahead and read the last one when it is at the library just so I can finish out the series..... I really don't like Ky though, and the relationship with him and Cassia is a mess....

We have a thread about the giver, and pretty much everyone here would agree with you!! So disappointing considering how amazing the book(whole series in fact) is!!

message 20: by lysah (new)

lysah | 31 comments anyone read Veronica Mars? had a friend tell me about the series, but she's a 50 shades fan and I personally don't trust those fans

hahaha I have not, but would like to! I LOVED the show, so the new material intrigues me. Still need to see the movie though, then time for the books for sure! ;)

Not sure if anyone has seen the preview yet for Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise, but it is actually based off the book All You Need is Kill. I am reading it right now and it is great!! A lot of swearing in my opinion, but really interesting story for sure!!!

message 25: by Ruby (new)

Ruby (rubiechan) I am currently reading School's Out Forever by James Patterson (the second book in the Maximum Ride series) and Legend by Marie Lu. I'm not far enough into them to judge but I've heard amazing things about Legend so hopefully I'll like it (:

message 26: by lysah (new)

lysah | 31 comments @Sam, yes. I read the first 3 books and stopped reading cuz they were too corny for my liking. did you like them?

message 27: by Sam (new)

Sam | 606 comments I started reading the so long ago! I loved the first few books... Then I kept reading them coz I just wanted to see what happened! I think I got up to 18 and then I just couldn't do it anymore :( she just didn't progress the characters so it got very stale. I still kind of want to know what happens but not enough to keep reading. This is a good example of when you really need to stop a series!

message 29: by Louisa (new)

Louisa Knight | 156 comments At the moment I'm not really reading anything because I didn't want anything to distract me from my exams but right after I'm going to read Philippa Gregory's 'the queens fool'

Reached I am kind of just ready for this series to be over so I can read something I will really get into.... Usually I get home and can't wait to read after work....last night though I got home and watched 2 hours of musical theater audition songs. Keep in mind I don't have my next audition until September.... Clearly the book is not drawing me in nearly enough! haha

Sophie (sophie_loves_books) | 7 comments Currently reading The Maze Runner, but I have exams too so I'm not very dedicated :P
I really need to tidy up my goodreads currently reading shelf...

message 33: by Sam (new)

Sam | 606 comments I'm reading 'Take me On' by Katie McGarry... I was half way through another book when I had this delivered to me by Amazon. So had to drop everything and start reading. I'm at work right now and all I can think about is getting back to it. I love all Katie McGarry's books :D

message 34: by Sheena (new)

Sheena I'm rereading The Green Rider series, on the 3rd one now. Since the author takes several years to publish between each book, and the 5th one came out in May, I figured I needed to reread them all before the 5th one to remember all that happened already.

I forgot how much I love these books until I reread them! :-)

Edward the Energetic Dog (edwardgreen2121) | 11 comments I am currently read A Game of Thrones.

message 36: by Sheena (new)

Sheena Those are on my TBR list. Everyone I've known that's read them say they love the Game of Thrones series.

message 37: by Emily (new)

message 47: by Kyara (new)

Kyara | 158 comments I'm currently reading The Fault in Our Stars, I know I'm kind of late on the bandwagon here! I think when I first found out what it was about I kind of avoided it, due to personal experience and whatnot. And by reading I mean listening to an audiobook haha. I'm about halfway through and am absolutely loving it so far! I'm also reading Nineteen Eighty-Four and The Scorch Trials, so I've got a but of a mix of stuff at the moment!

message 48: by Louisa (new)
