On Friday, Jean S. and her sister, Martha, joined us for dinner at the Red Door. I can highly recommend the lamb meatballs if you are ever in town.
On Saturday, we met at the zoo and Sherry, Mary Anne, Vic and I walked many miles through the zoo. Sherry took some fabulous animal shots that I am sure she will post. Ruth and Dottie took a tour on a large golf cart, so they probably learned more than we did. I have some photos also, but I seemed to get a lot of photos of animal butts! They like to turn their backs on us at the last moment! The SD zoo is such an amazing place. We had a relaxing lunch at Albert's in the zoo. Then after a quick walk to see the gorillas and the tigers, I headed home.
At about 3 pm, Dottie, Ruth, Sherry, Mary Anne and Vic came over and we had champagne, cheese and chocolates. Then we did our readings. It's always interesting to hear what everyone has chosen.
At 7 pm, we went to Coasterra, which is a gourmet Mexican restaurant that has the best view of San Diego bay. We had a good meal, but everyone was exhausted after a full day.
This morning, Ruth left to drive home, but Dottie, Sherry, Mary Anne, Vic and I walked over to Great Maple to have brunch. It fortified all of us to get one with our day. Sherry flew home and the others drove off to do other things.
It was a small group, but I really enjoyed seeing everyone.

That is really neat -- you are fortunate even if you may at times not be quite into the subject matter. Sound lovely.

That's weird, I get them, but maybe that's because they're on my page. I'll see if somehow I made them only available to friends.

This morning we met at the downtown library for a tour. We loved the children's section on the 1st floor. It has Seuss murals painted on the walls. Then we took the elevator to the ninth floor and saw the wonderful view. The rare book room is also there, and I think we could have spent the rest of the day there. After that we worked our way down and saw the highlights on each floor. I was happy that Dottie joined our little group for the rest of the convention.
We had lunch at the Prado in Balboa Park and then we walked across the plaza to the San Diego Museum of Art. We spent about an hour and a half looking as various exhibits. In the German Expressionism section, we ran into a rare bird. It was a security guard who was quite friendly and who wasn't afraid to comment on the art that we were looking at.
We are meeting for dinner in about an hour. I will report more tomorrow!
