What do you prefer?

I love borrowing books but I mostly buy them as I can re-read them over again and I like to own my favourite series. Sometimes you borrow a book from the library and it has pages ripped out or liquid spilt all over it so I prefer buying books rather than borrowing.

I prefer borrowing...its less expensive, I only buy books when its not in the library. But since theres a library close by me, its easier and better. Also because, I tend to not reread the books that I buy o.o||

Pauline Fireheart (paulinesbookshelves) I never borrow books because:
1) french libraries don't have english books
2) I'm a germophobe and want my book to be new
3) I love collecting books, adding new ones on my shelf makes me so happy :)

message 5: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (maddiekikki) I nearly always borrow my books from either the public or university library because they have a good range, I love browsing the shelves and it's free (I'm on a student budget!). I do like buying books now and then though, especially if I can't find a copy in libraries. I own copies of most of my favourite books and series too.

Bethany (bfmmcdermott) | 30 comments Buying! I never borrow books if I can help it - even textbooks. If I cant afford a book, I read it online and buy the physical copy when I can

Daly I usually buy my books but most of them are on sale. I don't usually get around to the library but if I did I would probably get books from there more

message 13: by Eliza (new)

Eliza Taye (eliza_taye) | 451 comments I do a mixture of both. One of the libraries near me has a program where you can get eBooks as well as physical books, so I will get them from the library from time to time. Usually, I prefer buying my books because there's never a limit to how many I can have and they're always mine to keep forever. Plus, doggie-eared pages make my eye twitch uncontrollably.

I mostly buy my books, because there's no library to get to easily that has more than 10 english books (germans usually tend to read german books). Aswell I love to reread books so its an advantage having them at home, and of course I love my bookshelf.
Even though I hardly ever borrow a book from a library, I often borrow books from my fiends, so I don't have to pay for all the books I'm reading, that would be rather expansive.

Ashley | 6 comments I get a lot of them from the library. Our local library is pretty small, but they're part of a county-wide system and it's much larger. Our county has pretty much anything I've wanted to read. If they don't our library is part of the state-wide group that allows me to borrow books from any other member library. It's pretty awesome! I have yet to want to read a book I couldn't track down at the library. Plus, I'm really busy. Our library is about a mile from my house. I can request what I want, they'll email when it comes in, and I just go in and pick them up. They're all ready for me. I can't say enough how much I love my library.

I do still buy a lot of books, mostly from Amazon. Usually books that I buy are books that I plan to reread.
