Genre Specific Review Groups discussion

If you receive a request to consider a book as an Alternate Reviewer, you have no obligation to accept it. The link to the book page will be provided to the Alternate Reviewer as input to this decision. If you decide not to accept the assignment, simply reply to the moderator with a "No thanks". No explanation required. The moderator will look for another Alternate Reviewer. There will be no repercussions whatsoever.

If you accept a request:
1) Let the moderator know that you will be taking on the book.

2) Contact the author to let them know that you are going to read and review the book as an Alternate Reviewer and request a review copy. Let the author know when you expect to complete the read and review. (Pick a schedule with which you are comfortable.)

3) If you complete the review on schedule, provide the author with the links to the reviews. (Usually Goodreads, Amazon, and Amazon UK, but this can be worked out between the reviewer and the author, if different venues are desired.)

4) If you are not going to complete the review on schedule, contact the author before the scheduled date to provide an updated completion date. There are all sorts of valid reasons for missing a due date. Alternate Reviewers are helping us make the Genre Specific Review Groups are more useful and fair place for authors to get recognition and grow as writers. This is appreciated. Just do not leave an author hanging, please.

All of our books are Scientific fiction. I would love to review some books but I have been unable to find a group to join. How do I become an Alternate Reviewer?

Thanks for asking. Any member of Genre Specific Review Groups can message a moderator with a list of the genres he or she is interested in reading. The moderator will add the member to the Alternate Reviewer list.
