Hey, fellow Indies. I just followed up on the 30% tax we get charged if we live outside of the U.S on our royalties. This article gives you the simple steps to obtain your EIN which depending on where you live exempts you from paying taxes on your royalties.

Hi Ben,

It seems you can no longer get away with an EIN. They want an ITIN, which is ok, but the whole process is a little long and difficult. They also want original documents to be sent to them to verify - these include passport, not a copy but the original. Seems rather strange. What was your experience?
