Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 1190 comments Just started on this one and already I'm thinking about how I would approach this.

Camille (camillesbookishadventures) I should get it from the library tomorrow!

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 1190 comments Has anyone else finished this?

I liked the author's approach - yes, I know it seems a little gimmicky but it was still fun.

I especially liked the Secrets of Adulthood. Anyone have one they like? Mine is probably something my grandmother always said - Everything works out for the best. (Sort of like Jamie's rule about The first thing isn't always the best thing...)

Camille (camillesbookishadventures) I've flicked through it but it hasn't grasped my attention so much.

Brenda (chocoholic1976) I'm almost done, but had to ask which goals resonated with you and if you have any other goals that you would work towards yourself. I agree that de cluttering always makes me feel better. I like the thought of de cluttering and then organizing. I also like how Rubin wrote, "take time for..." I often think about making time for something instead of taking time for it. Lastly, I am horrible at remembering birthdays, but always want to be better. Reading her section on how good it felt to remember birthdays made me think that the effort is worth it.

She definitely packs more into her days than I do! Writing a novel in one month on top of raising two kids, working, and continuing with other goals? No, thank you.

Cindy (BKind2Books) (bkind2books) | 1190 comments I continually have to declutter and that month's goal definitely resonated with me. I also think that the universe is pointing me towards meditation / mindfulness as I've read 2 or 3 books recently that had this as a recommendation. Not to mention a work educational seminar on it.

Brenda (chocoholic1976) Mindfulness has been so helpful to me over the years. It helps me greatly with staying in the moment and not projecting into the future. That sounds like a great goal for one month of a happiness project.

Brenda (chocoholic1976) This is the first time I have actually read the book for this group during the month. I am a slow reader, unlike many on this site. While some of Rubin's writing felt tiresome and repetitive at times, I did enjoy picking up a book about Happiness, especially when I needed a boost. I have decided to let November be a month to give to myself. Some of the giving to myself will be giving to others, but mostly just a time to nurture me and use my time wisely in benefit of my own happiness.
