So not quite standard zombies , but I think a good enough overlap. I've always loved Frankenstein, and been fascinated by the character. And always been a bit surprised there aren't more books about the hubris of man's attempt to defeat death through science.
So is anyone aware of any others where the protagonist/main character is someone trying to defeat death/raise the dead? I'm after a post-enlightenment scientific theme like Frankenstein, as opposed to a fantasy-style necromancer.
The only others I can think of are Herbert West- Reanimator and a quite excellent Warhammer book called Necromancer. But there must be more than that. Any suggestions?
