Asgard
Home of the Aesir
Ruler: Odin and Frigga

The gods of Aesir as well as the Valkyries live here, protected by a great wall created by Hrimthurs. Perhaps the most famous location within Asgard is Valhalla, the home of Odin and his wife Frigga. The souls of warriors that have been chosen by the Valkyries also remain in Valhalla, until called on to fight for Odin.

Vanaheim
Home of the Vanir

This is where the Vanir gods dwell, those not considered important enough to be able to stay in Asgard. They can visit, however. Vanaheim is the most mysterious of the realms as no one is properly able to describe where it is or what it looks like, thanks to the magic of the Vanir.

Midgard
Middle Earth

This is the realm that humans live in. There is no set ruler, and there are many different warring factions. It is impossible to reach without a back door or the bifrost, as it is surrounded by oceans that are the home of the great serpent Jörmungandr.

Jotunheim
Land of Giants
Ruler: Laufey and Thrym

Split into more parts than most realms, normal giants and frost giants both dwell here. Laufey is the ruler of the icey half the frost giants dwell on, and the more normal, somewhat barren rest of the lands are ruled by Thrym.

Muspelheim
Land of Fire
Ruler: Sutr and Sinmara

This is the home of the fire giants, or Eldjotnar. The entire realm is made of lava and fire and is filled with intense heat, impossible for most but the fire giants to survive. They are more easily compared to the normal demons that Midgard has tales of, thanks to the habit of the fire giants to visit Midgard.

Alfheim
Home of the Elves
Ruler: Freyr

The light elves are considered some of the most beautiful creatures, and technically classified as minor gods. Their realm is almost always sunny and bright. Underneath the mountains the dark elves dwell, often ignored.

Svartalfheim
Home of the Dwarves
Ruler: Hreidmar

The dwarves live here, generally staying under rocks and living in caves. However, they are incredibly skilled with tools and weaponry, which the gods have benefitted from greatly.

Niflheim
Land of Fog
Ruler: Hel

This is the larger realm of fog and mist that most attempt to avoid. It is sometimes considered the land of the dead, even more so than Helheim. All of the unworthy dead dwell here, it is the worst people that are trapped in Helheim.

Helheim
Land of the Unworthy Dead
Ruler: Hel

This is where the souls of the worst of the worst who have died and are not deemed worthy by Valkyries reside. It is said that anyone who enters will never be able to feel true happiness again. It is located at the very center of Niflheim, and houses those such as thieves and murderers.
