Tuesday Nov 1 - What do you do with your leftover Halloween candy?

My husband can take it to the office except for the 3 Musketeer bars which I microwave for 5 seconds...

November 2 (Wednesday): When do you start holiday shopping and decorating?

Every year we have a decorating party the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

I don't start decorating until December 1st. I try to start my holiday shopping in early November.

Saturday, Nov 5 - I'm headed for an all-day book event (Murder and Mayhem in Milwaukee - all mystery-writers) today. Have you attended any book events?

We live on the edge of town so we don't really get any trick or treaters except for grandkids. My husband eats anything left over.

I have a few things bought for Christmas. We don't really decorate till after Dec. 1.

We don't have much of that around here. Once in a great while the library will have something. I met Marsha Wallace (the secretary from the Bob Newhart show) and William Kent Krueger that way. That's about it.

Most nights, yes. I no longer set my alarm ... I go to bed when I'm tired (generally about 10p) and I wake up when I wake up (somewhere between 5:30a and 6:00a). Some nights I stay up later because I'm reading, or watching TV, but it seems that I still wake at about the same time.

I turned in my mail-in ballot last week and checked that it was accepted. I've seen the lines places, quite long.

I have voted by mail for several elections now. I mailed my ballot in about ten days ago.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. I have insomnia, so I often have to resort to medication to sleep. Once I get to sleep, I'm usually good.

You might be on the wrong sleep schedule.

I suffer from insomnia AND have a toddler. So...no. 3ish hours is the norm.

Hubby and I needed a document notarized, so a couple of weeks ago we went to village hall at 7:30 a.m. ... got our ballots, voted and got our paper notarized. Three birds with one stone!

I didn't go past village hall this morning, but Hubby reported a "pretty full" parking lot (which is unusual ... usually only one or two cars there during the day).

Most of the time I do, but there are days that I can sleep all night (7-8 hrs) and still feel tired.

I'm a pretty consistent Bed at 11:00, up at 7:00. It rarely varies. Once a week I get up at 6:00 to babysit and sometimes sleep in until 8:00 am. What could be wrong? I'm asking seriously, not sarcastically.

Your biorhythm could be off and you should maybe be going to bed and waking at different times. So even though you are getting eight hours sleep; you might be getting it at the wrong time, causing you to feel tired and possibly depressed. It's acknowledged in the medical world that twenty percent of people have this condition called Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome. But I feel it's a spectrum situation where if the world wasn't on a 9 - 5 schedule, there would be people naturally waking up and sleeping at all hours of the day.

Yes, but sometimes I suffer from insomnia. When I do, I have found that books on audio help me relax and get back to sleep.

I voted yesterday, waited until about 9:30 am and only had one person in front of me :)

I voted early. No lines. Last election we went on election day and was in line for an hour and a half.

Not happy with the Presidential race, happy with the passing and not passing of certain local issues. Super glad the ads are over!!

I'm happy with the Presidential race outcome. Most of the local elections were good, too.

I was disappointed that an increase in the sales tax that was supposed to help fund the schools didn't pass.

I am also glad all the ads are over.

I missed all the ads! We don't have television service!

Yes, we turned off our TV service and just use the internet for the occasional movie or TV series. I have no patience for sitting through commercials. We save about $80 month, I think not using the TV service and don't miss it at all. We still can play through our TV screen to get 'the big picture'.

We do the same thing but also have an antenna for the TV. Cable prices have gotten out of control and you still have to sit through commercials! We have to have some kind of timely news since we are in Hurricane country.

We also watch CBSN and the international news broadcasts (BBC, DeutscheWelle, France24, etc.) via Roku.

I'm feeling distressed by all the protests ... especially the ones that have gotten violent. Really, people, this is NOT helpful. How, exactly, does shutting down the freeway have any impact? Even worse, how does destroying local businesses have any impact?

Hubby and I had an event to attend downtown last night ... we had to figure in additional travel time and difficulties with parking due to planned protests. As we were leaving to head for home (around 10:00p) ... the protesters were still filling the streets. This kind of disruption does little to change the minds of anyone who is against the stated cause; and it even irritates those who might be sympathetic to the cause.

Okay ... off my soapbox.

My husband's company pays for most of our cable bill, so we have the full package but that's the only reason. Otherwise we'd get rid of cable tv. But anything I really want to see I record on DVR so I just fast forward through all the pesky commercials - political or not ;-)

I have to agree BC. Although in my city the protests have been quiet and non-disruptive (I'm sure someone would disagree with that).

November 11 (Friday): It's is Veteran's Day in the US today. Do you have any veteran's in your life or are you one yourself?

I am was in the Army and my husband was in the Coast Guard. My dad also served in the US Navy for a couple of years towards the end of WWII in the Pacific.

Yes, I used to record anything I would watch. I can't watch 'live' TV. I don't know how anyone can watch commercials.

Thanks. It was our honor to serve.

There are many vets in my family, from my grandfather in WWI to a few newly enlisted nephews. My husband served 20 years in the AF. Most of our friends are from our military days.

And thank you for all their services also! Happy Veteran's Day!

My husband is a disabled Vietnam veteran (Airborne Ranger). I was in the Army Reserve for 14 years. My father served 33 months in the Pacific theater during WW2.

My dad was in the Navy and I have many friends who served.

My daddy was in the Navy, as was my uncle - both were in Vietnam war. My other uncle was in the Army. My grandfather was in the Air Force (before then part of the air corp of the Army) and served in WWII. Many of my friends are veterans. I live in Colorado Springs - home to three military bases (one Army, two Air Force) and the Air Force Academy. So good luck not knowing a veteran here!

November 14 (Monday): How many books do you own?

Not sure but I'd gander at easily over 1,000, probably over 2,000. I have bookshelves in every room of the house and some in the attic. (and I don't even keep most of my fiction...)
