I am halfway through The Clay Girl. It is a very lyrical book about a girl growing up in an environment of physical, mental, and drug abuse. The beautiful writing contrasts the horrible events!

I recently finished The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin. I liked it very much. I enjoyed how the characters related through books, how the characters were developed, and how the words were put together. Lovely book.

Now I'm reading Magyk, the first in the Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage, and The Four Seasons: A Novel of Vivaldi's Venice by Laurel Corona.

I just finished My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante last night and I'm still trying to decide how I feel about it. It is brutal and honest about growing up female in 1950's Naples and it beautifully captures the agonies of adolescence and the complexities of friendships. All that makes it difficult to read at times, but the writing is both compelling and beautiful which also makes it a pleasure. But did I like it? It is one heck of a book and I do want to read the remaining 3 in the series. I would definitely recommend it, too. Still, I might let a little time to go by to absorb the pain of this one first. I think reading them all at once might just leave me emotionally destroyed. In a good way, as the best books will do, but still destroyed.

I just started reading "Happiness at Work: Be Resilient, Motivated, and Successful- No Matter What" by Srikumar Rao. It was suggested to me during a training that I had taken for work. so far, it is very informative.

I am reading Jerusalem by Alan Moore. The author is a Hugo Award winner and I guess you could say this is scifi fantasy.....totally hilarious novel centered on Northhampton in the UK. The guy is a master of arcane magic and the history of the area, where he actually lives. He is also a well known comic book author.

I'm working on The Sister by Louise Jensen. Interesting book, part scary, part about loss so I'm trying to keep up with the emotional turmoil.
