Callum Soukup-Croy | 3 comments I definitely want to do this, but as it's my first year I think I will start small with 5 books. I'm ashamed to say that I don't read much Scottish writing, only a few I can think of in the past, but I do have a few sitting unread on my bookcase that fall into this category. Any other suggestions?

It very much depends what you enjoy reading Callum. Ian Fleming would count. Iain Banks, Ken MacLeod, Ian Rankin, Denise Mina, Val McDermid, James Oswald. Lots of vintage crime too and anything with a Scottish setting would also count. Just Google Scottish authors or Scottish setting.

Welcome, Callum! There are so many wonderful Scottish authors. If you want to check out the reviews on books read for these past 3 years for this challenge you can go to my host blog and look on the pages tabs. There are 3 pages of links to reviews for Scottish books!
http://peggyannspost.blogspot.com Much more than just crime novels!

Susan in Perthshire (susanageofaquarius) I am starting small with the target of 5 - see how I get on!

Callum Soukup-Croy | 3 comments Thanks for the tips folks. I do like a good crime story and have read some Rankin before, his stuff is good. One of my favourite 'Scottish' books is I Crossed the Minch. I know MacNeice is Irish but the setting is of course Scottish and a great read. If there are any more like that out there then I would love to know!

Hi, I noticed this group before but decided to wait until the beginning of a new year to join. I plan to read at least two books that I own, but may fit in more if time permits.

Thanks for the link, Peggy. I am already getting more ideas from your books read list. : )
