Lorna (rogue_librarian) Eleven is really is going to be a challenge for me, but "The Hebridean" level title was too alluring to resist.

I agree Lorna. I'm a Hebridean at heart so I am going to shoot for this goal as well.

James | 44 comments Hello! I'm signing up for this level this time around. I read loads of Scottish books the year of the referendum but have managed just a few in recent years. But now it's time to take on a wee bit more. There's still so many good ones out there.

message 11: by Beth (new)

Beth Mast | 12 comments I'm signing up for this one. Wish me luck! I like the idea of making a map and marking the areas/town my books are taking place in. I think I'm going to try to do that!

message 12: by John (new)

John R What a good idea, Beth - and that sounds like a future mini-challenge...."read every region"! Some critics feel that Scottish literature is too dominated by the central belt (particularly Glasgow) working-class/tartan-noir genres, and that other regional voices aren't represented (although I think that Orkney and Hebridean writing is flowering again at the moment. Jim's comment about the referendum is undoubtedly related). So this would be an opportunity for us to widen our horizons.
I reckon we could come up with list of options that covered all the areas/regions and island groups.

Good idea, John. Would you do that for us?

message 14: by Melanie (new)

Melanie Hi, joining at this level, fell of the bandwaggon last year in this group (though I read 19 Reading Scotland Books).

So far my TBR has 11 books. Shall open a thread and list them.

Will do, Peggy.

Melanie Updated my list with a few titles :) Really have to make a start on the Dorothy Dunnett books, but hope to read at least 2 while we are in Dumfries in the summer.

Ali (alicihonest) | 2 comments I found this group quite late in the year, but I'd love to still join in! I have read quite a few relevant books already this year, so I hope it counts to go back and add those?
