Anyway, I have a whole review up about We Were Liars on my YouTube Channel. http://youtu.be/fLOmdkTA5wc

I could NOT believe the end. In hindsight, it was so clear, but my heart broke into a million pieces when I realized what had happened. I was such a mix of angry and sad at the end. I can't imagine how horrible things must have been for these teens to even want to burn the family home down, and now that the family must live without three of their beloved is just terrible.
I really did enjoy the book, and give it a 5 star rating. At first, I wasn't a fan of the writing, but taken as an entire book I can see the artistry in every word, and appreciate how Lockhart took the time to craft this novel. I will be rereading it soon for sure to see where all of the clues can be found.
Thanks for picking another awesome book for Booksplosion!

- No reply to any of the emails she sent in Summer Sixteen. Even though they kind of explained it, it was a hint
- No mention of the presents she sent until she brought it up
- No one but Cady ever said their names or even mentioned them really, except the Grandfather who called her Mirren
I think it was little things like that that kept me interested the whole time. I cried during the end but I'm not sure if it was out of sadness for Cady (probably not, I didn't enjoy her character that much) or for the other three characters.
I gave the book 4 stars, I wasn't a massive fan of Cady but I really liked Gat. The book was very different to anything I've read before.

I think it was probably because of all the hype booktube has been going on and on and on about.
I didn't feel anything for the characters and I hate reading books about pretentious rich people and the fact that Gat was there made it better. The fact that they wanted to burn down the house didn't make me feel anything.
I thought it was immature. Like they really thought it would fix anything, drunk or not. God. The whole book was just meh for me.
but to each their own.
I hope the rest of you guys enjoyed it. I gave it a 3.5 total, but on goodreads scale it has a 3.

One thing that really annoyed me was that they were the kind of pretentious rich kids that didn't even bother to learn the names of the staff...

i didn't even notice those hints! i was thinking about how her mom kept telling her to play with the Littles.

That being said, I loved how unsettling and creepy this novel was. I read where many authors described it as a "twisted fairy tale" and that is exactly what I would say. The writing was beautiful and the overall tone was so good.

Guess I was right.
Even so, I was completely devastated on her behalf. It's one thing to not have your memories, to have your mind filled with gaps, and completely another to have them back and know that your best friends in the world are dead. The gaps in her life are still there, but now they're shaped like people and she has nothing and no one to blame for that but herself.
I gave this book four stars, but it's probably more of a 3.5. I rate based entirely on personal taste, and when it comes to contemporary YA I tend towards the cute, fun books with happy endings rather than the heartbreaking angstfests like this one. Also, as far as main characters go, rich pretentious white people annoyed by how rich and pretentious the older generation of their family is...are not my cup of tea at all.
This book is pretty far outside my usual book comfort zone, but I don't regret reading it at all.

The pretentiousness of some of the characters did irritate me at times but, it did not stop me from giving this book 5 stars.

my thoughts exactly!

Despite the great and tragic ending,I feel like the rest of the book wasn't that amazing. I couldn't connect with the characters until the last two parts, and at times it seemed like nothing particular happened.
All in all, I did enjoy this book a lot, even though it will take some time to accept that three of the Liars are dead. I ended up giving this book 4 stars. Once again, a great choice for a Booksplosion read!

First things first: I loved the author's writting, I have been reading so much (bad)fanfiction-like written books I needed a good author for once. Her use of resources such as metaphors and foreshadowing, her short chapters that made you want to read more and more of them...
People is right when they say it's better to read this book without knowing what it's about, not only because I would have seen the hints to what happened, but because I think I wouldn't have enjoy it that much. I didn't see it coming, but I did, because when they explained the plan to burn down the house my head started listing all the reasons why that was not a good idea. About the characters: They are spoiled rich people, yes. They are pretentious, yes they are. But we know that since the very first line. And I don't know about you but it didn't bother me while reading the book, I just took that for granted, one of the many qualities of the characters - that somtimes I tended to ignore -.
I loved this book. I love how it crushed my heart. The only thing I didn't fully understand is wether she sees the ghost or their presence is due to her guilt and post traumatic stress disorder.

I never became attached to any of the characters in this book, but I would say that this was more plot-driven than character-driven. I wanted to know what happened; not because I cared about anyone, but because it was just so intriguing. I think if it had been written in a different style, it wouldn't have been quite as mysterious and attention-grabbing.
And did I miss it, but why were they called the Liars? I feel like I missed something there.

Even thought I have issues with some characters (aka Gat), and that Caty annoyed me in some parts of the history, that final blowed my mind and made me incapable to elaborate coherent phrases about it, and repeating, THE FEELS, THE FEELS was deep.

I seriously wasn't expecting that ending :O So shocked... But I really loved the book, the writing style was absolutely beautiful, I'll definitely have to have a look at E. Lockhart's other books now...

Uhm, could you explain why you hated Cady and wanted her to die? And why you think that all the Liars except for Gat are pretentious in your opinion? Because those are two things I definitely disagree with...

Oh! I just meant the "rich" when I said "except for Gat" (sorry for the confusion)!
As for Cady, when I found out the truth about what she has done (what they have all done, actually) I was really angry and I hated her at that moment,I hated how irresponsible she was toward something that's so wrong and so dangerous that killed her friends, I hated how they have all died in that fire because of her, but that 's the only moment in which I wanted her dead.

Also, I think this book would make a great movie!

I will admit I was shocked by the ending, and I thought and felt like I was going crazy. But then it all made sense to me and I felt very sad and heartbroken. There isn't even a scrabble word for how I feel...

I have to say that I did see the end coming shortly after she returned to the island. I really really wanted to be wrong because I loved the liars, but sadly I wasn't. I'm also really glad that I took everyone's advice and went into this book not knowing anything about it. I gave this book 5 stars. I really enjoyed it!

I've been reading some of the reviews and a lot of people seemed to have a problem with the writing style, but I loved it.
Definitely a 5 Star Book for me!
