I read Piccadilly Jim before the Blandings books, and so found it very fresh and funny. I think it may have been my first Wodehouse. Although I had seen the brilliantly rendered Jeeves and Wooster (Fry and Laurie) on television. At any rate, Piccadilly Jim has a special place in my heart.
Incidentally, a film tragically awful version of PJ was released a few years ago. It was a miss on every level... I just don’t understand why filmmakers can’t embrace that when the source material is great, your only job is to just not mess it up. (Okay, I might be channeling some of my frustration with the recent Agatha Christie films. Blech!)
