Susie | 768 comments I finished Treasure Island today...will probably want to read Kidnapped at some point...sounds like you really liked it!
Did you like your Yeats poetry? I find myself drawn to his writing...some really deep, some mystical, something always touches me...

You are off to a great start!

Wow, you are doing great! How did you like A Fine Balance? I've been thinking about reading that book myself :)

Actually I really struggle with poetry in general, so I decided to do this one on audio, since I've really enjoyed audio performances of a danish poet (Sommerfugledalen - et requiem by Inger Christensen).

I did appreciate that Yeats' poetry is very good - unfortunately the performance was lacking, mostly due to mumbling which is something I really hate - simple could not hear half he was saying even when the volume was hurting my ears...

I really enjoyed it, learnt a lot about 20th century Indian history and the story is also very good, I like the different viewpoints which show how many sides to a story there is and how much of our history we bring with us.

Also you could consider The Prose Edda or The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales

message 25: by Emerson (new)

Emerson | 282 comments I bought a lengthy and beautiful anthology of Icelandic Sagas, including Njal's, I'm bound to read it soon enough but I'm quite happy with the twenty pages or so foretaste I had!

message 26: by Julie (new)

Julie | 606 comments I managed to finish this just in time - I've been reading Le Morte d'Arthur: King Arthur and the Legends of the Round Table for almost 6 months, and finally finished it this weekend - it is a tough read because of the oldfashioned language, but fortunately the chapters are short.
