Tr1sha | 283 comments I read this but was disappointed. Parts of it are full of beautiful descriptions, but there’s no real story just meandering memories.

I like the second and third parts of his autobiography more than this one. I think it's the weakest of the three.

Thank you, that’s interesting. They are on my list but I was wondering whether to try them or not.

I actually read the second and third books before Cider with Rosie, and I'm glad I did. They were much better and more interesting, especially his experiences during the Spanish Civil War.

That’s good to know, Rosemarie. I was very disappointed by cider with Rosie, and what I took to be the rape scene really put me off.
