Amanda, I've only read one other Faulkner book (The Sound and the Fury), but I've been salivating over Light in August for months.


I've heard so many good things about The Stand. I can't wait to read it!

1899 and earlier – Mythology
I love your Mythology theme for 1899 and earlier! All three of those are on my TBR. I might have to borrow this idea!

Still, there were moments that will stick with me. Louise Bentley's rejection of her son, the loneliness and isolation created by the townspeople themselves, the fanaticism of Jesse Bentley...


I've read that Ray Bradbury was inspired by Winesburg, OH when he wrote the Martian Chronicles.
I was excited to see Light in August was nominated!
