This is my first post here. I have been a Harry Potter Fan since long and Goblet of Fire at one time used to be my second favorite book of the series. In my last few readings of it though there is one seemingly blatant flaw in the plot that I can't get over. That flaw is, Why did Voldemort have such a convoluted plan involving the Triwizard tournament?

It seems to me that Voldemort would have been much better of not putting Harry Potter in the spotlight where all eyes were on him, and instead should have gotten him abducted through Moody/Crouch jr directly as he had access to harry through the entire year. This would have also ensured that nobody would have been missing Harry even if he was gone for a few hours because everyone would have assumed that Harry had some business with Moody. I mean surely, Moody could have made anything a portkey in his office, why go to lengths to make the Triwizard cup a portkey and then ensure through complicated means that Harry touches it first?

Any ideas?

Maybe that weird potion Wormtail was brewing took several months to brew?

Utsav Bansal (vastu) | 4 comments The problem was not as much that Voldemort waited for an year, but more his method, which was convoluted and counter productive.
