There's a chill in the air. It's the perfect time of the year to curl up by the fire with a good book!

What are you reading?

This book is very good! A good statement on the inequality in the treatment of the races and the classes in this country.

I am almost finished with the Underground Railroad, and my NOOK ran out of juice. Great book! Such a sad look into the mistreatment of the Black people in the early 1800's. Also the story shows how industrious the Black people were, fighting against almost insurmountable odds. Great read. Highly recommend!

I've heard such great things about this book, but I've never actually read it.

I'm reading "The Chase" by DiAnn Mills. It's pretty good so far.

I was excited to start listening to All Things New by Lynn Austin, one of my favorite Inspirational Fiction authors. I love her historical fiction and this one is set just after the Civil War. It's about a family who is struggling to survive on their plantation, and I like that it has several points of view. So not only are members of the owner's of the plantation heard from, but some of the formerly enslaved members as well. They are all obviously struggling with a lot of changes, and there is a lot of tension not only between the races but also the generations. I can't wait to see where it goes!

That is such a great book, I love books that show you the personal aspects of historical events and I feel like that's what this one does.

Kelly | 6 comments Currently I am reading To Kill A Mockingbird. I hadn't read it since high school and I wanted to reread it so I could read Go Set A Watchman. :) I just recently finished up 198: How I Ran Out of Countries. Written by a gentleman who has visited every country in the world. Really gives you wanderlust!
