Lanelle | 462 comments Each month we will read a public domain book in a certain genre, about a particular subject, or by an specific author. Report which book or story you've decided to read. Feel free to discuss what you're reading and the author's writing style. Don't forget to leave a review of your selected work.

Let's listen instead of read this month. Listen to anything on librivox.org
(Christmas stories are encouraged though :)

Lanelle | 462 comments Lee, I know you've recorded at least one story for LibriVox. Can you make any suggestions?

I have decided to listen to Pollyanna. I have found that there are several audio versions of the book. What about you, Lanelle?

I don't recall recording any Christmas stories for LibriVox, Lanelle, and what I did record was pretty much 'all over the map' as far as genre. You might try a subject search since I do know that there are a number of books and stories that should turn up. :)

Best!

Lanelle | 462 comments I finished listening to Miss Santa Claus of the Pullman last night. It is such a good story, with values that I think we all should consider.

Thank you Lanelle for the book recommendation. I loved reading Miss Santa Claus of the Pullman. Actually, you recommend lovely books here. I hope you will recommend more in the future. Would you like to have a book discussion? I thought it will be a nice thing to try something new for the group this year. Let me know what do you think?

Lee Howlett For anyone who has had the pleasure of listening to any of Andy Minter's recordings on LibriVox, I'm sad to say that Andy died a few days ago.

He was one of the first people to welcome me to LibriVox in early 2007 and was a joy to work with on recordings. He will be sorely missed.

Here is his catalog page for LibriVox. Loved his sweet English accent.

Oh, my God. I am so sorry to hear that. My condolences to his family and friends. I just knew him when I listened to The Cherry Orchard. Then I found that he recorded The Prisoner of Zenda. That book was my very first English book to study at school. I will listen to his recording of the book soon. That's so sad.

I didn't recover from knowing that Lucy Burgoyne died. I haven't listened to her recordings yet. But Can you Forgive her is on my TBR list.
