Glad you are joining us Nicole. Have fun!

Nicole (bookwyrm) (bookwyrmknits) Just started reading WISH YOU WERE HERE by Rita Mae (& Sneaky Pie) Brown. I'm not very far in yet, but so far I think it's really cute. I wasn't sure when it started with a cast of characters... I hate feeling like I have to do my homework before reading a book. The interactions between the pets especially amuses me.

Christie (christineocheallaigh) | 5 comments I started reading the Mrs. Murphy mysteries years ago, but got sidetracked by other books fairly early on. I think I might have made it to the ninth book, I'm not sure. I am definitely way behind though. I've read the entire Cat Who series several times though, and even have several of them, six or seven I think. Qwill, Koko and Yum Yum are some of my favorite characters ever, and I hate that we won't be able to read any new adventures of theirs.

Sharon | 189 comments I love the Cat Who novels!
I enjoy the Mrs. Murphy series. I read the first couple of novels were ok but the 3rd & higher numbers of novels got better especially as I got to know the characters! I love all the animal characters too!
I am a horse lover! The possum, mice, the Grey Horned owl, cats they meet, the horses!

Nicole (bookwyrm) (bookwyrmknits) Sounds fun, Sharon! I'll look forward to meeting the other animal characters as I progress in the Mrs. Murphy series.

And thanks , Christie, for the reminder on the Cat Who series. I enjoyed the ones of those I read, too. I'll have to go back and re-familiarize myself with those.

Christie (christineocheallaigh) | 5 comments I love the Cat Who series! The characters are just so real and believable! I'm from a small town myself, and I can easily see my neighbors in these people, or friends of my grandparents (and sometimes my grandparents!). I have yet to find a cat as smart as Koko, but I keep hoping. I usually get the ones like Yum Yum...cute and sweet and dumber than a brick. :P They also love playing with things you wouldn't think of being cat toys, like the plastic rings off of milk jugs (along with the lids), rubber bands, my pens and pencils and markers...I have to give them their own just so they stay away from the ones I actually use. I even bought a package of bendy straws specifically for them to play with. :P

Nicole (bookwyrm) (bookwyrmknits) I finished book #1 for my Purring Challenge: Wish You Were Here by Rita Mae (& Sneaky Pie) Brown. Very fun book! The full review of it is here.

(Note: I will be editing my initial post with the completed books.)

Sharon | 189 comments I love all the novels I have read almost all of the series! I just love the animals in this book especially the three Pewter, Tucker & Mrs. Murphy!

Nicole (bookwyrm) (bookwyrmknits) Book #2 finished! I just read The Cat Who Could Read Backwards by Lilian Jackson Braun. Great start to the series! My full review is here.

Nicole (bookwyrm) (bookwyrmknits) Books #3 and 4 finished! (I forgot to log book #3 when I was done with it... oops. Fixed now!)

#3 was Murder Past Due (Cat in the Stacks #1) by Miranda James. (review here)

#4 was The Cat Who Ate Danish Modern (Cat Who #2) by Lilian Jackson Braun. (review here)

Nicole (bookwyrm) (bookwyrmknits) Book #5 finished; half-way there! It was The Cat Who Saw Red by Lilian Jackson Braun, and the full review is here.

Nicole (bookwyrm) (bookwyrmknits) Book #6 done! I enjoyed Black Cat Crossing by Kay Finch, though I was more interested in the cat's activities than the mystery itself...

Nicole (bookwyrm) (bookwyrmknits) Book #7 done! It was a refreshing change to have real magical cats in the first Magical Cats mystery book, Curiosity Thrilled the Cat by Sophie Kelly. Cute book!

Nicole (bookwyrm) (bookwyrmknits) Book #8 done! I read A Novel Way to Die by Ali Brandon and really enjoyed it. I'll have to look into more books in this series - I really liked Hamlet (the cat) and the human book store assistants a lot. (I didn't care for the main character as much, but the supporting cast made up for it.)

Me too :D
I love Hamlet and the whole setting but I have no real connection to the MC.

Oh, good! It's not just me, then. It seems weird to continue reading a series for the supporting characters, but that's what I'm going to do. :)

Nicole (bookwyrm) (bookwyrmknits) Book #9: Crime and Poetry by Amanda Flower
Book #10: Rest in Pieces by Rita Mae Brown

And done! This was a really fun challenge. Thanks for hosting!

Anna Catharina I've read Crime and Poetry for my Purrfect Challenge, too. How do you like it?

Nicole (bookwyrm) (bookwyrmknits) Anna Catharina wrote: "I've read Crime and Poetry for my Purrfect Challenge, too. How do you like it?"

I enjoyed it! I got annoyed at a few things in the book (like the implied future love-triangle) but overall I thought it was fun. Did you like it?

It was a quick and nice read, but it isn't one of my favorite. I also got annoyed at the "love life" stuff and I think some things the MC did were very stupid :D

Yes, this was definitely a case of the MC being conveniently stupid. And I didn't think there was enough of the cat. I did like the bookshop idea, though.
