Vaelin Hi all,

Beyond Redemption by Michael R. Fletcher has intrigued me for some time but is this book good? The ratings suggest that it is but wanted to hear some opinions from those who have read it please.

Comparable to any other book you may have read?

Im a fantasy veteran so not afraid of something a little different.

Matthew It's *very* good. I've had trouble comparing it to any book I've read, though.

Undoubtedly it fits in the "grimdark" subgenre, but the author adds the right amount of humor so as not to make it overly bleak. I feel Joe Abercrombie does this well too.

It's a unique concept, with extremely well writtem characters. Some have had problems with the German named. That didn't bother me, but it's what I've seen out there. Definitely worth a shot. I've been meaning to pick up the sequel.

Vaelin Awesome, thanks for the info, the German names will not be an issue for me :)

Lanko | 16 comments Definitely one of my Top 10 reads this year. It's pretty dark at parts, yes, but it's not just bleakness and despair, it has some... amusing moments as well.

Definitely a crazy book. And no, I haven't yet come across a book that is comparable to it.

Emma I thought it was comparable to Joe Abercrombie's First Law and the Library of Mount Char- more of their love child than a direct comparison.
I loved th psychology and wit.
