I'm in! I really love Neal Shusterman. I heard him speak recently and he talked about this book. Such a cool premise!

So excited to start this novel!! To anyone else who happens to join, throw out some suggestions for our reading schedule :)

Can I join you guys? I haven't read any of Neal Shusterman's books but I heard he's great! And this book seems cool!

I just learned that this book was named a Printz Honor Book. Can't say I'm surprised. Neal Shusterman is an amazing writer. I already finished the book, but would love to join in the conversation. Such a great book!

22% (view spoiler)[Okay so I guess the "villains" here are those 4 scythes who loves mass murder. Though what they do wouldn't be referred to as murder since they're scythes. Which leaves me wondering, how were they chosen in the first place? I thought those who become scythes are compassionate people. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 3. (view spoiler)[ loving the book so far. Life would really be boring with nothing signifacynt to aspire to. Jumping of buildings for fun still cant be the best past time. It would seem weard to me to be offered a position like that by a scyth. I cant help wondering what Rowans classmaits would think of his apprenticeship to the scyth. Chapter 8. (view spoiler)[ so we now have the bad scyths. My guess is that they started out ok and grew to enjoy there work to much. There going out of there way to stand out it seems. I wonder if they always travel in a group like that and what the other scyths think of them or if they know the way there behavior. Rowans first gleaning choice was hard. I'm on chapter 25 as of last night but I won't be reading today since I need to study for my physics exam so I'll just probably read tomorrow :)

Opening couple of chapters show the two teens to be standouts from their society in some way. Liking the excerpts from the history of gleaning to explain how the society construct came about.

33%-quirky. Love how we shift from private to public, and I sense there's a lot going on behind the scenes.

60%-fascinating to see the two different approaches. Each has their appeal, but what a strangely sterile world they exist in.

75%-curiosity and curiosity. This has more depth than I was expecting.

85%-so excited by this news. It just feels right, but I do wonder at the repercussions for those involved.

Completed-oh wow! So much better than I was expecting. Hints of romance, political intrigue, a fabulous depiction of a new world and a great story. What's not to like? Just wish I didn't have to wait so long for the second part...

This is actually my first buddy read. Probably a bit late but about 63% through the book and loving it so far! The world and characters are done xtremely well.

Yeah, the book is really great!

Ended up finishing the book.
I loved it! The characters were well done and three-dimensional and the world-building was great. I can't wait for the sequel!
