Somehow I did not make a topic for this yet... Possibly since I still have not read them(working on it....I promise)! But, here it is now, so let the discussion begin!! :D

Naura | 41 comments I haven't watched the movie!
I just read the book and it was great!
From what I've heard- the movie was horrible?

I have heard the same thing from people....I have plans to finally read the books this summer. Then again, I have a lot of books I want to read this summer, so we'll see what I manage to get through! ;)

That is exactly the same situation I am in! :)

Naura | 41 comments Lol XD You said it!
I,for one, took a LOT of time to finish the book! :D

Louisa Knight | 156 comments I started to read the book and then I just put it down and never got around to reading it again, I'll put it on my 'to do' list!

Seth (kygana) I've read the first Two and it was amazing, though really intense. I had to take a break between the two because my head felt like it would pop.

I own the movie and it isn't completely terrible, because they put so much in the first book the movie just wouldn't have made a lot of sense if they tried to keep it the same. But I would say the book was way better because the movie just didn't seem to do Eragon and Sapphira justice.

Kyara | 158 comments Seeing this topic actually just reminded me that I still need to read this! I've had Eragon sitting on my shelf for about a year now and I still haven't picked it up.
I think it's about time I do!

Sam | 606 comments Yeah I haven't read either and they have been sitting in my bookshelf for a lot longer than a tr. so ur not alone! :D

message 10: by Kyara (new)

Kyara | 158 comments That makes me feel a little better haha, I've been feeling so guilty for neglecting them for so long!

Naura | 41 comments I have Eldest with me now-been more than a week since I borrowed it from the library! XD
I've to get to it soon :P

I actually had he whole series on my kindle from the library ready to go, but I was reading other things and did not get around to it... One of these days! I really want to read it, I just get distracted with my never ending "to-read" list!

Landen | 73 comments I'm currently reading the series and about halfway through the second book. I LOVE them so far, even though many hate them. I found some similarities between these books and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

message 14: by Sheena (new) - added it

Sheena This series is on my TBR list. But when you have hundreds on your TBR list, getting around to certain books can be more difficult than you would like lol. But I am looking forward to reading these! :-)

I feel the same way Sheena! I am really busy right now and have about 5 books I "need to finish right now"...so I do not know when I will get to Eragon...but I really really want to!!!!

Ariana | 28 comments Landen wrote: "I'm currently reading the series and about halfway through the second book. I LOVE them so far, even though many hate them. I found some similarities between these books and The Lord of the Rings..."

Same with me. One of the reasons many hate the series is because people think that Christopher Paolini copied The Lord of the Rings. I love the series so far and I am on page 138 of Eldest.

Elisa | 10 comments I read all four books and I really love them (that reminded me that I should read it again some time... It's the perfect book for this group, the movie is the most horrible thing I've ever seen :) The actors (mainly Eragon) is really really not good, and they could never make a second movie there are just so many elements missing! It could be a great movie, maybe it will be remade one day...

Ariana | 28 comments I've never seen the movie, but I saw a picture of Eragon from the movie and all I thought was Ugh. I'm not sure if I'm going to watch the movie. The books are great though!

They only made one movie right? I feel like when a series that is a big and popular as Eragon was it proves the movie was bad if they only made one.....

Ariana | 28 comments They should re-make the movie.

Elisa | 10 comments They made just the one movie, but they couldn't continue the series based on this movie!! There are just too many details missing that you need to continue it! So if they 'd want to make another movie, they must remake the first one!

Ariana | 28 comments I want a new Eragon movie!!!

Natalie (allicatchesup) I had read the first book (and enjoyed it a lot), before the movie was released and was so excited. Then I watched the movie. It's still one of my most upsetting adaptations.

Maybe that's a good thing then! haha Someone mentioned how they with Percy Jackson had been an animated movie, cuz then they would have gotten more of it right. Do you think that could also be the case with Eragon?

Landen | 73 comments Well, I just recently finished the series, and it brought tears to my eyes when I read the last paragraph. Right now Im hoping the author make a new series about following a rider whom Eragon teaches.

message 26: by Dev (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dev | 31 comments I was thinking about the original Eragon, the elf (I think) who was the first to tame the dragons.

Nüll (westmoure) I think the series was very well done, but the movie itself could have been better if the director took into consideration the rest of the series.

Landen | 73 comments I think the author at that time came out with the second book.

Dana Burkey (danaburkey) | 1690 comments Mod
So I still need to get around to reading these, but I have to say that it is awesome how young the author was when writing these books. I think even if there are things about it people do not like, you have to give the author a LOT of credit for making such an overall loved series while being so young. As for the movie....it sounds like they must have hired people even younger than the author to make it since I have yet to hear anyone who actually liked it... haha

Nüll (westmoure) Landen wrote: "I think the author at that time came out with the second book."

Eldest had been released, and shortly after the movies release Brisingr was also.

Landen | 73 comments Dana is right, whenever I look up reviews for the series's to see another persons insight, all I see are haters.

Dana Burkey (danaburkey) | 1690 comments Mod
Knowing the author and his age and such makes the books so much more impressive! Same with Veronica Roth who wrote Divergent. The books are for sure not my favorite, but she is younger than me so I have to give her credit for that if nothing else!!

Devanshi K They didn't do justice to this book at all. The books were very well thought of ,but the movie was that enjoyable an experience to watch.

frostylemon | 49 comments i started to read them then I stopped in the second book and never read it I'm hoping to continue but for right know I am in reading bowl so I'm focusing on those books

message 36: by A.R. (new) - rated it 4 stars

A.R. Hellbender (unicornhunterbooks) | 2 comments Oh my gosh, I hated that movie. I liked the book (but not its sequels), so I was pretty excited when the movie came out. But then, I was disappointed that they made it really low-budget and made all of the fantasy races too human. (And what's with with the Ra-zac being weird bug people?)
One major gripe I had with it, too, was that they downplayed the womens' roles (except for Arya). In the book, Angela was a quirky lady whose first appearance involves writing a letter about how toads are actually frogs. But in the movie, she's a sexy chick who refers to herself in third person and is only in one scene.

Alyssa Rackley (3082584) | 9 comments The movie SUCKED. They had all the wrong sequencing, the only part I liked was how good they made Saphira look. Also, the actor who played Eragon did not play the part well.

message 38: by S.J. (new)

S.J. Lewis (sjlewis) | 23 comments I never bothered to see the movie, largely because of one of the previews for it shown on television. It was the one where Liam Neeson (I think) tells the kid: 'You are the Chosen One'. After I saw that, I knew exactly how the movie would go, and pretty much how it would end. So why spend the money on a ticket?

message 39: by [deleted user] (new)

Read the first book, and thought it was okay. I have seen parts of the movie, but not the full thing. From what I have seen, it's not one I would pick generally.... :/

message 40: by frostylemon (new)

frostylemon | 49 comments I started to read it and I forgot how good it was

Elisa | 10 comments Well, Liam Neeson isn't in the movie, but the quote could be from the movie :)

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

The books r my absolute favorite. My friend had told me how terrible the movie was but i decided to go for it. Huge mistake. The only good thing about the movie is the music and Ed Speelers. Hes cute. But they got everything wrong. Nothing absolutely nothing was right. I was yelling at the tv the whole time. I bought it and i dont know y. Its a shame that directors can do nothing right these days.

David Kummer They made the movie (which essentially wraps up the series in Hollywood's own way) after only one book had come out. So they took the first couple chapters of the book, and then went random with it. It was so bizarre. Not a horrendous movie in and of itself, but it wasn't AT ALL the book.

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

I agree David. I guess if you haven't read Eragon it'd be a pretty good movie.

David Kummer But you'd be much better off reading the book series instead! Lol

message 46: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes, defiantly!!

Alexandra Murray | 5 comments Dragon is a series that me and my brother read together and we absolutely loved it!!
We were so excited when it came out
But the movie was nothing like the book
I personally feel it was really badly done
I hope in the future it gets re-made but properly

Alexandra Murray | 5 comments Eragon'

message 49: by [deleted user] (new)

Completely agree. Though I think it would be a really good tv show ya know? Like 1 episode=1 chapter and 1 book= 1 season. Then they could really get into it.

Alexandra Murray | 5 comments Yes!!!
OMG that would be a great show
I'd definetly watch it
