I haven't watched the movie!I just read the book and it was great!
From what I've heard- the movie was horrible?

I started to read the book and then I just put it down and never got around to reading it again, I'll put it on my 'to do' list!
I've read the first Two and it was amazing, though really intense. I had to take a break between the two because my head felt like it would pop.I own the movie and it isn't completely terrible, because they put so much in the first book the movie just wouldn't have made a lot of sense if they tried to keep it the same. But I would say the book was way better because the movie just didn't seem to do Eragon and Sapphira justice.
Seeing this topic actually just reminded me that I still need to read this! I've had Eragon sitting on my shelf for about a year now and I still haven't picked it up. I think it's about time I do!
Yeah I haven't read either and they have been sitting in my bookshelf for a lot longer than a tr. so ur not alone! :D
That makes me feel a little better haha, I've been feeling so guilty for neglecting them for so long!
I have Eldest with me now-been more than a week since I borrowed it from the library! XDI've to get to it soon :P

I'm currently reading the series and about halfway through the second book. I LOVE them so far, even though many hate them. I found some similarities between these books and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
This series is on my TBR list. But when you have hundreds on your TBR list, getting around to certain books can be more difficult than you would like lol. But I am looking forward to reading these! :-)

One of the reasons many hate the series is because people think that Christopher Paolini copied The Lord of the Rings. I love the series so far and I am on page 138 of Eldest.
I read all four books and I really love them (that reminded me that I should read it again some time... It's the perfect book for this group, the movie is the most horrible thing I've ever seen :) The actors (mainly Eragon) is really really not good, and they could never make a second movie there are just so many elements missing! It could be a great movie, maybe it will be remade one day...
I've never seen the movie, but I saw a picture of Eragon from the movie and all I thought was Ugh. I'm not sure if I'm going to watch the movie. The books are great though!

They should re-make the movie.
They made just the one movie, but they couldn't continue the series based on this movie!! There are just too many details missing that you need to continue it! So if they 'd want to make another movie, they must remake the first one!
I want a new Eragon movie!!!
I had read the first book (and enjoyed it a lot), before the movie was released and was so excited. Then I watched the movie. It's still one of my most upsetting adaptations.

Maybe that's a good thing then! haha Someone mentioned how they with Percy Jackson had been an animated movie, cuz then they would have gotten more of it right. Do you think that could also be the case with Eragon?
Well, I just recently finished the series, and it brought tears to my eyes when I read the last paragraph. Right now Im hoping the author make a new series about following a rider whom Eragon teaches.
I was thinking about the original Eragon, the elf (I think) who was the first to tame the dragons.
I think the series was very well done, but the movie itself could have been better if the director took into consideration the rest of the series.
I think the author at that time came out with the second book.

They didn't do justice to this book at all. The books were very well thought of ,but the movie was that enjoyable an experience to watch.

i started to read them then I stopped in the second book and never read it I'm hoping to continue but for right know I am in reading bowl so I'm focusing on those books
Oh my gosh, I hated that movie. I liked the book (but not its sequels), so I was pretty excited when the movie came out. But then, I was disappointed that they made it really low-budget and made all of the fantasy races too human. (And what's with with the Ra-zac being weird bug people?)One major gripe I had with it, too, was that they downplayed the womens' roles (except for Arya). In the book, Angela was a quirky lady whose first appearance involves writing a letter about how toads are actually frogs. But in the movie, she's a sexy chick who refers to herself in third person and is only in one scene.
The movie SUCKED. They had all the wrong sequencing, the only part I liked was how good they made Saphira look. Also, the actor who played Eragon did not play the part well.
I never bothered to see the movie, largely because of one of the previews for it shown on television. It was the one where Liam Neeson (I think) tells the kid: 'You are the Chosen One'. After I saw that, I knew exactly how the movie would go, and pretty much how it would end. So why spend the money on a ticket?
Read the first book, and thought it was okay. I have seen parts of the movie, but not the full thing. From what I have seen, it's not one I would pick generally.... :/

The books r my absolute favorite. My friend had told me how terrible the movie was but i decided to go for it. Huge mistake. The only good thing about the movie is the music and Ed Speelers. Hes cute. But they got everything wrong. Nothing absolutely nothing was right. I was yelling at the tv the whole time. I bought it and i dont know y. Its a shame that directors can do nothing right these days.
They made the movie (which essentially wraps up the series in Hollywood's own way) after only one book had come out. So they took the first couple chapters of the book, and then went random with it. It was so bizarre. Not a horrendous movie in and of itself, but it wasn't AT ALL the book.
I agree David. I guess if you haven't read Eragon it'd be a pretty good movie.
But you'd be much better off reading the book series instead! Lol
Dragon is a series that me and my brother read together and we absolutely loved it!!We were so excited when it came out

Completely agree. Though I think it would be a really good tv show ya know? Like 1 episode=1 chapter and 1 book= 1 season. Then they could really get into it.
